The BBC have confirmed that John Simm will be returning to Doctor Who as ‘The Master.’

Simm had been papped on the set of Tennant’s final episode and his return was announced at yesterday’s Comic-Con and then confirmed by the beeb.

The BBC said: “At the close of series three we saw the Master gunned down by his wife and whilst lying in his enemy’s arms, he refused to regenerate.

Some of our favourite Doctor Who characters are said to be returning to the show for David Tennant’s last appearance as the timelord.

The Sun reports that Billie Piper, who played Rose Tyler, Freema Agyeman, who played Martha Jones and Catherine Tate, who played Donna Noble will join forces to take on the Doctor’s arch rival The Master (John Simm) in the epsiode which shows David Tennant regenerate into Matt Smith.
