As fans of Emmerdale will know, angry teen Sean Spencer (Luke Roskell) nearly died last week after he electrocuted himself as he smashed up Brook Cottage, which was of course his family home until Megan Macey (Gaynor Faye) ruthlessly booted the clan…

And despite the fact that Megan in fact helped to keep Sean alive until the emergency services arrived, she need not expect any thanks from Sean’s feisty mum Ali (Kelli Hollis) who in fact blames Megan for the whole thing!

As we saw last week, as Sean was being taken to hospital, Ali promised Megan, “This isn’t over…” and true to her word, in the episode that airs on Monday, we’ll see Ali confronting Megan over the near fatal incident, but to her surprise, Megan breaks down and reveals that Ali has what she’s always wanted; a family who love her. As we reported last week, Rachel Breckle (Gemma Oaten) saw the ideal opportunity to help her sister Ali Spencer (Kelli Hollis) out when, in a quid pro quo deal with Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) she persuaded him to offer Ali the supervisor’s job at the factory…

However, Ali gets off to bad start when she’s late for her very first day in the role of supervisor, and when Jai refuses to chastise her, his brother Nikhil (Rik Makarem) is left bemused and puzzled as to why his brother is going so easy on Ali.

UPDATE! The fabulous Kelli Hollis has confirmed to us that she is also returning for the Shameless finale in the role of feisty Yvonne Karib! Yvonne was of course formerly married to – as it turned out – gay shopkeeper Kash (Chris Bisson) but she later began a romance with copper Stan Waterman (Warren Donnelly).

I can’t wait to see what Yvonne’s up to now!

Fans of Channel 4 comedy drama Shameless, which is sadly ending its eleven-series run this year, will surely be delighted to know that Anne-Marie Duff is to make a comeback to the show as Fiona Gallagher.

TV Choice magazine reports, “The 42-year-old acclaimed actress left the programme eight years ago during the second series, a little over a year after the hit comedy drama launched.

“She is now filming the final edition which is set on Manchester’s fictional Chatsworth estate.”

Anne-Marie, who is of course married to her former Shameless co-star James McAvoy who played Steve McBride, left the show in its second series – as did James – and since then has starred in the critically acclaimed BBC drama The Virgin Queen as well as BBC Two series Parade’s End, in which she co-starred with Sherlock actor, Benedict Cumberbatch… Read more & comment »

Emmerdale star, Gemma Oaten, has revealed that she thinks it would be good for her character if her parents were to pay Rachel and her sister Ali a visit.

Gemma play Rachel Breckle, who fans will know is expecting the love child of her married boss, Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson), unbeknown to his wife, Charity (Emma Atkins), in the ITV1 soap.

And given that he is of course married to Charity (Emma Atkins) Jai (Chris Bisson) has promised Rachel that if she’ll just keep schtum about the fact he’s the father, he’ll provide her with all the material things she needs to raise their child in comfort.

And for Rachel, who’s always lived life on the breadline, the prospect of not having to worry about paying the rent and bills is an attractive one, even if it does irk her that her child may become Jai’s “dirty little secret.”

News from Yorkshire way today begins with former Shameless actress Kelli Hollis who has told Inside Soap magazine that she’d love for her character Ali Spencer to marry her lesbian girlfriend Ruby…

But she doesn’t want it turning into a Corrie-esque Sophie and Sian Big Fat Lesbian Wedding!

When asked if she’d like to see Ali and Ruby (Alicya Eyo) taking a walk down the aisle, Kelli said, “Me and Alicya would love to do that. We wouldn’t want to do it just because we play lesbians though.

“Gender is irrelevant – this would be two people who love each other.”

Kelli Hollis and Alicya Eyo have been speaking to the Emmerdale website about their characters, lesbian couple Ali Spencer and Ruby Haswell, and it seems their arrival in Emmerdale is set to “liven things up.”

Kelli, who plays Ali, said, “We’re here to liven things up.”

And Alicya, who’ll play Ruby, added, “We do come in and cause a bit of a stir.”

Actress Kelli Hollis – who has previously starred in Shameless – has landed a role on Emmerdale as Ali, the sister of Rachel Breckle (Gemma Oaten), and it seems she’s set to make quite a splash when she arrives in the village.

When asked by Soaplife how she would describe her character, Kelli said, “She’s feisty and she’ll do anything for her kids.

“She has left her husband for a woman and now she has to deal with how that affects her son, Sean, and daughter, Amelia.”
