Kiefer Sutherland: “24 could continue without me”

Kiefer Sutherland has reportedly suggested that 24 could survive without his character Jack Bauer.

The 42-year-old told The Sun: “All of us, for the actors to the writers, understood from day one we are not, and never will be, the heartbeat of the show – if you look at the major characters to have died over the years you know you can be killed off, and the show will get better without you.”

Kiefer Sutherland Talks About “Most Powerful 24 Ending Ever”

Kiefer Sutherland has revealed that the finale of the current series will be the most powerful and emotional we have seen to date.

“The most I can tell you about it is that it’s not going to end because someone cuts two wires and the clock on the bomb stops,” the Sutherland told www.parade.com.

“It is going to end with some of the characters going through a very difficult emotional dilemma which will be much more dramatic than a big action sequence. I believe that it’s the most powerful important ending that we’ve ever had to a season.”

He recalled: “I was sceptical about doing a television series, and Steven Hopkins, who directed the first year of 24, was a very old and dear friend of mine.”

Kiefer Sutherland has admitted that he hates having to say goodbye to cast members as they are repeatedly killed off on his US TV show, 24.

“One of the hardest things about shooting 24 is that I work with some amazing actors and pretty much everybody gets killed,” Sutherland told The Hollywood Reporter. “So you get used to working with people you develop an unbelievable relationship with – not only professionally but personally as well – and then their characters die.”

Kiefer Sutherland Regrets DUI arrest

24 star, Kiefer Sutherland has admitted that driving under the influence of alcohol was “so stupid!” and admits to being very angry with himself over his actions.

“People make mistakes. I never lied about it being a mistake and I had to go through what I had to go through for it,” Sutherland told The Times. “I was incredibly cross with myself for it. It was careless and I wasn’t thinking. Hopefully that’s behind me and I’m moving on. 24: Kiefer Sutherland Model Prisoner

Kiefer Sutherland was this week sentenced to serve 48 days in prison after being convicted for drunk driving.

Thankfully there will be Paris Hilton style tantrums and dramas, as prison staff have described the star as a model prisoner.

Prison Officer John Balian revealed: “He’s a model prisoner. He’s not happy to be here, but you can tell from his demeanour that he’s sorry and takes responsibility for what he’s done.”

Sutherland spent his first day serving food to the other prisoners and folding laundry.

Balian added: “He hasn’t had any visitors as yet, but has bought several books with him to keep him entertained.”
