Kirsty Young wept over nominations for BBC’s 999 Awards

The BBC announced last week that they’re hosting a new awards ceremony aimed at honouring members of the emergency services who’ve shown outstanding courage and commitment to saving lives.

And today, Crimewatch presenter Kirsty Young – who’s to host the glitzy ceremony – revealed to The Sun’s TV Biz that she cried when she read the stories of some of the nominated heroes.

She said, “There are some very moving stories. It’s going to be a rollercoaster of emotion.

“I have read through the nominations and they have made me cry.”

Kirsty, who’s mum to daughters Freya and Iona, added, “Once you have had kids, you cry at anything.

“When I was pregnant for the first time I cried over somebody’s decking on Ground Force – I knew then that I had crossed the Rubicon!

“But the great thing about the 999 Awards is that they are a celebration. Out of some of the very distressing and tragic stories there is triumph at the end…” Read more & comment »
