Law and Order: SVU – Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni Return, Christine Lahti Joins

Sources behind ‘Law and Order: Special Victims Unit’ have confirmed that they will be bringing back Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni for the show’s upcoming 11th season.

The pair are said to have negotiated their contracts together and landed substantial rises in pay.

The HollywoodReporter.com article went on to say, “Hargitay and Meloni’s deals come a month after NBC closed a deal with Wolf Films for the renewal of ‘Law & Order: SVU.’ At the time, NBC brass said that the show will return with or without its stars as the networks and reps for the actors had been embroiled in intense negotiations.”

Freema Agyeman To Return To Soaps?

Doctor Who star, Freema Agyeman started off in small ITV soap, Crossroads and has admitted that she may one day consider returning to her soap roots.

The actress told MSN: “You know soap was my first telly job and I learned massive amounts.

“When I got onto set, it was the terms, they’d say ‘Freema, we’re gonna do a wild track now’ and I remember thinking, with my heart pounding ‘I don’t know what that means’, and then you’d get to your dressing room and there’d be a big pile of rewrites so you’d have to learn how to pick up lines quickly.”

Freema Agyeman Chooses ITV Over Torchwood

Freema Agyeman will not be appearing in the third series of Torchwood as planned as she has accepted a role in a new ITV drama ‘Law and Order.

A source told The Sun: “This has really mucked things about. We’ve had to go back and re-edit loads of scripts because she’s not going to be in it.

“[ITV is] the Beeb’s bitter rival, so the fact she’s going over there to star in a big new project has not gone down well at all.”

ITV Making Law And Order London

ITV are making a UK version of the hit US TV series, Law and Order.

The show will be created by ITV and Kudos Productions, makers of Spooks and Hustle, and will be co-produced by American network NBC.

TV’s director of drama Laura Mackie said: “Although based on the US series, Law & Order: London will absolutely look and feel very British, glossy, dynamic and with the style and energy Kudos bring to all of their drama.”
