Last week reports emerged that Lipstick Jungle had been cancelled by US TV network NBC. However star of the show Brooke Shields has claimed that this is NOT true.
“They thought that because [Christian Slater drama] My Own Worst Enemy has been shut down that the same thing had happened to us, and it’s not true,” she told Usmagazine.com.
“They’re not breaking down the sets,” said Brooke, who plays Wendy Healy in the show. “We’re still working. We still have more to do, so it’s erroneously presented that we’ve been cancelled, thank God.
How many more shows am I destined to start watching, getting caught up in, getting interested in, for it to then be cancelled after a pitiful amount of episodes.
Lipstick Jungle is said to be going the same way as last year’s Journeyman and has been cancelled by US TV network NBC.
The Hollywood Reporter says that American network NBC made the decision after the second series hit a new ratings low in recent weeks. The Sex And The City-style drama starring Brooke Shields was averaging 4.2 million viewers per episode - not enough to warrant a new series.
Brooke Shields has urged fans of her TV show, Lipstick Jungle to watch the show live instead of a recording as it runs the risk of getting cancelled.
“We’ve got a huge fan base, but people are watching it on DVR and TiVo and we need them to watch it live,” the actress tells Parade.com.
“Advertisers are saying, ‘We don’t want to be on a show where people are fast forwarding through the commercials.’ So we’re saying to our fans, ‘Listen, we know everybody loves this show because we’ve got the numbers to prove it. But unless you watch it live on Friday night, we run the risk of not getting to come back.’”
Fabulous US drama Lipstick Jungle, starring Brooke Shields and written by Sex and the City author Candace Bushnell, launched exclusively on LIVING this September. LIVING, the channel dedicated to guilty pleasures, is pleased to announce it is bringing even more glamour and escapism to screens this winter by not making anyone wait for season 2! And it just keeps on getting better. Starting on LIVING on November 17th, a week after the finale of series 1, the second season of Lipstick Jungle continues to follow Wendy, Nico and Victory as they juggle their lives and loves on a day-to-day basis.
Kim Raver, star of Lipstick Jungle has said that people love the show because it is a “yummy indulgence”.
“We all need some yummy indulgences,” she says in Boston Common magazine. “Television can provide that escape - and on a friendly schedule. If you have four kids, by the time you get a babysitter, find something you want to see, and get to the movie theatre, it’s very expensive. Our show provides an escapism that I think is not insulting. People like to see what it’s like to fly with a billionaire in a private jet. That’s a yummy indulgence.”
Is anyone else loving (!!!!) Lipstick Jungle on Living? I can’t understand why it performed so badly during its early episodes, but here’s hoping it picks up soon, as there have been way too many good shows cancelled this year!
