As mentioned in the title of this article, Alice Branning is set to become a nanny for struggling single dad Michael Moon after she loses her office job…
We’ll have more on that in a moment, but first, as to the other storyline mentioned above, in Thursday night’s visit to Walford, teen mum Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) will be furious when she finds out that Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) is going on a two-week holiday to Cornwall to visit his mum Peggy, and he’s taking little Lexi with him!
Lola is of course fed up of Phil calling all the shots and never consulting her over decisions about Lexi, and she’s not happy that she won’t get to see her daughter for two weeks, so in a rage, she tells her granddad Billy (Perry Fenwick) that she wants him to call social worker Trish with a view to her stopping Phil from taking Lexi… Read more & comment »

Fans of EastEnders will know that Denise Fox and Zainab Masood are both interested in applying for the job of regional manager of the Minute Mart chain, and given that both ladies are competitive – despite the fact they’re friends – they’re set to play dirty with the aim of ruining the other’s chances of landing the job…
And in episodes that air as of a week on Thursday, we’re going to see teen mum Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) having something of a Solomon’s choice to make about her baby girl, Lexi.
More on that in a moment, but first, as to what Denise (Diane Parish) and Zainab (Nina Wadia) will get up in order to discredit the other, it all begins when Zainab finds out that Denise had enlisted the help of Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) to help her brush up on her interview techniques.
While simultaneously ridiculing Denise, telling her that she’ll come across as “too rehearsed” Zainab will enlist the help of her family to stage a mock interview so that she too can brush up on her interview skills… Read more & comment »

And within hours of arriving in Walford, he’s set to catch the eye of young mum Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) however, Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) will reportedly warn her off getting involved with Dexter, telling her she needs to focus on her daughter Lexi – who Phil has custody of – rather than acting like a love struck teenager…
Which is of course exactly what poor Lola is!
The Daily Star quotes a show insider as saying, “Phil is going to become more and more controlling where both Lola and Lexi are concerned… Read more & comment »

However, earlier in the day, Lola thinks she’s scored points over Phil (Steve McFadden) when he agrees that Cora (Ann Mitchell) and Jay (Jamie Borthwick) can be Lexi’s godparents, but things soon take a worrying turn when Lexi comes out in a rash!

However, as you’ll see in the clip after the jump, when all eyes are on her waiting for her to say the words that could ensure Phil gets custody, she’s hesitant.

In upcoming episodes of EastEnders, we’ll see Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) continuing his fight to get custody of his granddaughter Lexi, who was of course taken into care after social services deemed that the baby’s mother Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) wasn’t capable of caring for the infant properly.
And later this week, after Phil learns that his son Ben – who is of course Lexi’s father – is to be tried for manslaughter rather than murder in the Heather Trott case, he will suggest that Ben and Lola get married, in order to formalize his status as Lexi’s granddad.
But not unreasonably, Lola’s horrified at the idea, given that she doesn’t even want Ben to know he’s Lexi’s dad. And her granddad Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) also doesn’t want Ben to have anything to do with the baby.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine recently, a show insider said, “The moment Lexi was taken away was the worst time of Lola’s life… Read more & comment »

The BBC has been criticised for how social services have been portrayed in the EastEnders storyline which has seen teen mum Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) being left distraught after her baby daughter Lexi was taking into care by social worker Trish.
Yesterday, The Guardian reported that the British Association of Social Workers (BASW) has complained over how social workers have been portrayed in the plotline.
Bridget Robb, the acting chief of the BASW, said, “It is disgraceful to see a publicly funded broadcaster deliberately spreading misinformation about the child protection process because it is too lazy and arrogant to get it right.
“We regularly give advice to programmes about social work storylines – we would like to know who advised EastEnders so badly.
“Social workers have a difficult enough job as it is… Read more & comment »

As we saw in last night’s episode of EastEnders, Lola (Danielle Harold) admitted to Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) that his son Ben is in fact baby Lexi’s dad.
Lola made the admission while begging Phil to intervene and stop social services from taking the baby girl from her…
And though there was nothing Phil could do right then and there, as we reported yesterday, he’s set to mastermind a plan to get custody of his granddaughter by becoming engaged to Sharon Rickman (Letitia Dean) in order to show the social services that he’s a fit guardian for the baby.
Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) is of course Lexi’s great-grandfather, which makes for a somewhat complex – not to mention interbred – family tree! Read more & comment »
