Corrie: Daybreak host Lorraine Kelly to play a policewoman in Text Santa Corrie Christmas special! (VIDEO)

This year’s ITV charity appeal, Text Santa, is set to feature some of the biggest names in entertainment as it hopes to top the amount of money raised for good causes during last year’s appeal…

And as part of the Text Santa show, which will air on Friday the 21st of December, Daybreak presenter Lorraine Kelly has achieved a lifelong ambition by landing a role on Coronation Street!

She and Benidorm actress Sheila Reid play the roles of police officers who’re called to a disturbance on the Street…

Daybreak re-launch fails to impress some viewers – what do you think of it?

As we reported yesterday, Lorraine Kelly and Aled Jones became the new lead anchors for ITV’s breakfast show, Daybreak.

However, despite the show’s bosses hopes that viewers would flock back in their droves now that Lorraine and Aled are fronting the ailing programme, many viewers were left decidedly under-whelmed by the new studio and presenters.

Within minutes of the show airing, fans took to Twitter to criticise the new format, branding it a low budget imitation of BBC Breakfast.

One viewer tweeted, “Watched 20 mins of @daybreak. Have now turned over to BBC. Don’t like the new format.”

Another remarked, “Wtf have daybreak done to their layout, looks like something from 1950′s, yellow wallpaper and striples… Ew.” Read more & comment »

Daybreak: Lorraine Kelly says she’ll make the breakfast show fun! (VIDEO)

As you’re probably aware, Lorraine Kelly and Aled Jones took over as lead anchors on the revamped Daybreak today, and in an interview for today’s TV Biz, Lorraine vowed to bring the fun factor back to the show.

Lorraine, who of course writes a column for The Sun, said, “We’re going back to basics.

“It’s all about giving people the main news and showbiz of the day.

“We’re bringing some of the fun back, not fun resulting from silly stunts, it’s having a sense of humour.

“But you don’t want to change everything.”

And of teaming up with Aled – who was of course the angelic voiced young boy who sang the theme tune to Christmas fave, The Snowman – Lorraine said, “He’s very sharp and well-informed.

Lorraine Kelly and Aled Jones have a mutual appreciation society moment ahead of Daybreak roles!

Both Lorraine Kelly and Aled Jones have been gushing about just how much they can’t wait to work together on the newly revamped version of Daybreak.

Aled – who of course first became famous as a child in 1982 when he sang the now iconic theme tune to Channel 4’s The Snowman – told the Daily Mail, “I am so thrilled to be joining ITV for their breakfast show.

“I am thoroughly looking forward to sharing the sofa every morning with such a consummate professional as Lorraine Kelly.

“We’ve known each other for a very long time and have always had a lot of fun together.

New Daybreak presenters confirmed as Lorraine Kelly and Aled Jones

After what seems like decades of speculation ITV have finally named the new presenters of Daybreak as Lorraine Kelly and Aled Jones.

The decision comes after interim presenters Dan Lobb and Kate Garaway stepped in to replace Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles after they were sacked from their positions following poor ratings after the show revamp.

Lorraine Kelly still has “flashbacks” of her horrific horse riding accident

When it was reported a few weeks ago that veteran TV presenter Lorraine Kelly had suffered injuries in a horse riding accident, the full extent of those injuries wasn’t made public.

But now, while speaking to the Sun – for whom Lorraine is a columnist – Lorraine has admitted that she still has “flashbacks” about the accident, that could very easily have become a tragedy.

Of her ongoing recovery, Lorraine said, “I am getting there but it’s been a long, long process.

“I’m so looking forward to getting back to work but I’m going to have to take it easy.

“I’ve been living in big jogging pants because my leg swelled up to twice its size — it will be so good to put on a nice dress and a bit of slap!”

The accident happened when novice rider Lorraine was training for a fundraising event – for the PiggyBankKids children’s charity – in February when a jump ended in disaster… Read more & comment »

Lorraine Kelly WILL be the new ‘face’ of Daybreak!

It’s been reported today that veteran breakfast telly presenter Lorraine Kelly is to become the new ‘face’ of the soon-to-be revamped Daybreak.

It has of course been widely speculated that she would take over the key role of hosting the show – in the wake of the axing of Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles last year – but apparently her recent horse riding accident delayed plans to announce the news.

However, now Lorraine is well on the road to recovery, the show’s boss, David Kermode is now seeking a male presenter to host alongside Lorraine.

The Mirror states that there are four contenders; BBC Breakfast sports reporter Chris Hollins, ex-Blue Peter host Gethin Jones, Five News presenter Matt Barbet and ITV News correspondent Keir Simmons.

The paper states that 52 year old Lorraine is “thrilled” to be taking over the role of main anchor on Daybreak, but it seems that she had a list of “demands” to make of Kermode before she agreed to sign up… Read more & comment »

Lorraine Kelly to be the new ‘face’ of Daybreak?

The Sun’s TV Biz reports today that Lorraine Kelly is set to become the new ‘face’ of Daybreak, along with a “lesser known” male co-host.

Lorraine – who’s currently off work following a horse riding accident – has long been a favourite with breakfast time telly viewers, and has remained with the show since GMTV launched and subsequently became the ailing Daybreak.

Presently, Kate Garraway and Dan Lobb are fronting the show, as they have been doing since the departure of flops Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles.

However, the paper states that Daybreak’s new boss David Kermode is in talks with Lorraine – and with Five News presenter Matt Barbet – about fronting the show from 7am until 9.25am.

A show insider said, “It doesn’t take a genius to realise the answer to ITV’s breakfast problems is staring them in the face.

“The audiences go up for Lorraine’s slot and the reason for that is Lorraine. She is down to earth and someone British women can relate to…” Read more & comment »

Lorraine Kelly will be “out of action” for at least two weeks after accident

As fans of Lorraine Kelly will know, last week, she suffered severe injuries after being thrown from her horse while practicing for a charity event.

She was rushed to hospital at St George’s hospital in London where she was treated for her injuries, which included having to have surgery on her leg.

In a message to her fans, thanking them for their support and well wishes, Lorraine said, “Thanks to everyone for the get well messages.

Lorraine Kelly talks about her terrifying horse riding accident

As fans of Lorraine Kelly’s breakfast time TV slot will know, yesterday, Helen Fospero stood in for Lorraine as it was revealed the veteran presenter had had a horse riding accident.

And today, Lorraine, who also writes a column for the Sun, has told the paper what happened.

She said, “There was a lot of blood — I got a huge shock. It was only my second time on a horse and I was attempting a modest jump when I fell off.

“It was part of a fund-raising ‘gold challenge’ to raise money for charity by taking part in an Olympic sport.

Ben Shephard flashed his bum at Lorraine Kelly!

Ben Shephard has admitted that he once “flashed” his bum at Lorraine Kelly.

The 36-year-old former Xtra Factor presenter – who worked on ‘GMTV’ with the Scottish presenter for 10 years – was modelling a kilt on the ITV breakfast show and had to prove that he wasn’t wearing any underwear, at the insistence of his feisty colleague.

He said: “I did flash at Lorraine one morning! I had a kilt on and she didn’t think I was wearing it in the traditional Scottish way. Maybe I shouldn’t have shown her my bum live on TV, but she remembers it fondly. I don’t have regrets.”

Lorraine Kelly launches High Street Fashion Awards 2011!

This May, ITV1’s Lorraine will celebrate the best of the British high street with the High Street Fashion Awards 2011.

Appreciated around the world, the British high street is known and renowned for its value, accessibility and dedication to the latest fashion trends – and Lorraine viewers will be recognising their favourite brands with a coveted High Street Fashion Award.

Deciding on the nominations for each category will be Lorraine’s expert team of judges. Lorraine style editor and high street extraordinaire Mark Heyes will lead the panel, along with Editor of Glamour magazine Jo Elvin and singer and fashion icon Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Lorraine Kelly dons Wonder Woman outfit for Lynda Carter interview

Lorraine Kelly’s still in fighting-fit form


GMTV presenter, Lorraine Kelly, has revealed that she still eats “like a piglet”, despite dropping from a size 14 to a size 12 during her training regime for the London Marathon earlier this year.

And during the launch of Scottish Armed Forces Day in Glasgow, she showed that she’s still in tip top condition.

50 year old Lorraine was winched from a helicopter for the event, and she clambered onto a tank before dashing down the River Clyde. Read more & comment »
