And the bad news for her daughter Mandy (Nicola Stapleton) is that Lorraine’s headed back to Walford just to see how much more misery she can inflict on her poor long suffering offspring.

However, this time, karma is perhaps biting Lorraine (Victoria Alcock) on the jacksie because no sooner is the drunken mum back on the Square than she collapses and has to be rushed to hospital.

Fans of EastEnders will know that the arrival of Mandy Salter’s mum Lorraine on the Square has been a far cry from a joyous reunion, and in forthcoming episodes, things are set to get a whole lot worse…

Lorraine – who’s played by former Bad Girls actress Victoria Alcock – has no love for her daughter Mandy, and is only intent on getting as much money out of her as she can, by whatever means she can, and that includes blackmail.

Mandy, who’s played by Nicola Stapleton, doesn’t want her fiancé Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) to know the full extent of some of the darker moments of her past, but Lorraine holds the threat of revealing those lies over Mandy’s head to ensure her daughter pays up.

When Mandy was just a teenager, Lorraine – who was, at the time, played by Linda Henry who of course now plays Shirley Carter – dumped her daughter on Pat and Frank Butcher and ran away.

From that moment on, the already troubled and troublesome teen Mandy became a bit of a nightmare, and she of course eventually left Walford in 1994, having stolen money from Pauline Fowler and most of the other E20 residents for that matter.

Her sudden re-appearance in Mandy’s life is down to Lucy Beale’s (Hetti Bywater) meddling, and unsurprisingly, Mandy’s furious with her soon to be step-daughter.

However, Victoria Alcock, who plays absentee parent Lorraine, has been talking to TV Choice magazine about how she’s settling in to the role, and how it’s something of an old pals’ reunion on set, given that she formerly starred alongside both Nicola and Linda Henry – who plays Shirley Carter – in Bad Girls.

Of the reunion with Nicola and Linda, Victoria said, “Apparently, as soon as it was announced that I was coming into EastEnders, all the Bad Girlsfans were on twitter.

“They’re so supportive, it’s truly wonderful.”

As fans of EastEnders will know, Lucy Beale (Hetti Bywater) is doing everything she can to destroy her dad Ian Beale’s (Adam Woodyatt) relationship with Mandy Salter…

And her latest plot ends up with Mandy (Nicola Stapleton) being reunited with her prostitute mum Lorraine Salter, who Mandy hasn’t seen for years.

However, that wasn’t originally Lucy’s intention, because having found a mysterious phone number in Mandy’s things, Lucy assumes it belongs to a man, so she arranges to meet ‘him’ to stir up trouble…

But it turns out that the number belongs to Mandy’s mum, Lorraine, who goes to the Vic to wait for Lucy.
