Emmerdale at 40!!! What a night – 2 weddings, 2 Dingle births, and Carl King is MURDERED!!!

So, tonight has been the night that all Emmerdale fans (including us) have been waiting for, so what happened in the live anniversary episode?

Fans of the hit ITV1 soap will know how we left the village with both Katie (Sammy Winward)and Declan (Jason Merelles) and Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and Dan (Liam Fox) tying the knot in yesterday’s instalment. However, trouble was lurking behind the pews in the forms of Carl King (Tom Lister) and Megan Macey (Gaynor Faye).

Emmerdale 40th Anniversary Live: An outstanding achievement and a brilliant farewell to Tom Lister aka Carl King

As we predicted a couple of weeks ago, Emmerdale bad lad Carl King did indeed meet a sticky wicket end in tonight’s stunning live episode, and his death was among the final acts in what was a truly outstanding piece of television.

Celebrating forty years of the soap, which began life as Emmerdale Farm, tonight’s hour-long live broadcast promised “all of life” in its two weddings, two births and a death, and my goodness, it delivered, and then some.

Nobody put a foot wrong, and all the main players will surely be needing the services of a carpenter to build them a whole rack of shelves on which to place their awards…

Lucy Pargeter as Chas Dingle was simply breathtakingly good, as was Tom Lister, who of course played Carl. How I hate to be using the past tense for him now! Read more & comment »

Last night saw the first instalment of this week’s Emmerdale 40th anniversary celebrations, and what an episode it was.

Backed into a corner, Chas (Lucy Pargeter) found herself with two options, run off with Carl leaving everyone shocked, but still blissfully unaware that she had been sleeping with her nieces fella all year, or marry Dan quickly and run away leaving Cameron (Dominic Power) to deal with the huge can of worms that a furious Carl (Tom Lister) is bound to open.

Emmerdale At 40 – Who’s going to die during 2012 live episode? Here’s our theory!

Fans of Emmerdale will of course know that the soap is celebrating its 40th anniversary in a week of special episodes that being on October 15th…

And among those celebratory episodes is the hour-long live broadcast, which is making history for being the first of its ilk to air in its entirety on location at the show’s studios in Yorkshire.

During that landmark hour, we’ll be witness to the birth of two babies, a double wedding and of course, the murder of a “well loved” and “major” character, and here at Unreality Primetime, we have a theory as to who is going to breathe his/her last during that live episode…

Emmerdale: Chas Dingle tells Carl King she’ll run away with him on her wedding day!

As fans of Emmerdale will know, Carl King (Tom Lister) is blackmailing his former fiancé Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and her lover, Cameron Murray (Dominic Power).

Carl has demanded £30,000 to buy his silence over Chas and Cameron’s affair – since Cameron’s girlfriend is Debbie Dingle, who is Chas’s niece, so of course they so don’t want her to find out – but so far, the frantic lovers have only been able to give him £15,000.

However, in a twist to the storyline as the soap nears its 40th anniversary, Carl is set to tell Chas that he’s still in love with her, and tells her that the blackmail will be over if she goes back to him.

But of course, Chas is supposed to be marrying her current fiancé Dan Spencer (Liam Fox) later this month… Read more & comment »

Emmerdale: Lucy Pargeter says Chas Dingle is “terrified” of what’ll happen when Carl King says he’s in love with her!

Emmerdale resident Chas Dingle is, at present, the living embodiment of Sir Walter Scott’s line ‘Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practise to deceive!’

Because she is of course set to marry Dan Spencer (Liam Fox) even though she’s still in love with Cameron Murray (Dominic Power) and is currently being blackmailed by former fiancé Carl King to the tune of £30,000.

However, while speaking to Inside Soap magazine about the plotline, Lucy Pargeter, who plays pub landlady Chas, has revealed that things are to get yet more complex as Carl (Tom Lister) tells Chas that he’s actually still in love with her!

Emmerdale’s Lucy Pargeter reveals she almost got married last month!

Emmerdale actress, Lucy Pargeter, has revealed that she nearly married her fiancé in Dubai last month in a last minute wedding, a bit like her alter-ego Chas Dingle is about to in the hit ITV soap, Emmerdale.

Unlike Chas Dingle, who Lucy plays in the award-winning soap, Lucy, has been engaged to her football coach fiancée, Rudi Coleano for eight years, and has a 7-year-old daughter Lola with him, whereas Chas has been seeing her fiancée, Dan Spencer (Liam Fox) for all of five minutes.

Emmerdale: Mark Charnock says Marlon has always wanted a family of his own, and Lucy Pargeter on her real life wedding drama!

As fans of Emmerdale will of course know, Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) and Marlon Dingle have rekindled their love for each other now that Laurel’s separated from shamed vicar, Ashley (John Middleton).

However, since being forced to go public with their relationship – after Paddy (Dominic Brunt) angrily announced it to the packed pub – things haven’t been going smoothly for the couple, particularly with Laurel’s step-daughter Gabby, who hasn’t taken kindly to her mother’s new boyfriend.

For any fans of Emmerdale who thought that Carl King may actually be showing the signs of regret over his treatment of Chas Dingle following his sudden interest in her personal life, THINK AGAIN.

Fans of the show will know how Carl (Tom Lister) has spent the best part of the month trying to get his head around the new relationship between his ex, Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and her fiancée Dan Spencer (Liam Fox), trying his hardest to put them off each other, in what appeared to be a sever attack of the green eyed monster.

Emmerdale At 40: Lucy Pargeter and Liam Fox talk Chas and Dan’s wedding and live episode!

As fans of Emmerdale may know, when the show airs its live episode in October, we’re to see the double wedding of Katie Sugden and Declan Macey as well as Chas Dingle and Dan Spencer’s nuptials…

But of course, for Chas Dingle, there’s the spectre of Carl King’s (Tom Lister) threat to expose her affair with Cameron Murray (Dominic Power) hanging over her veil, so for her, the day may not have the fairytale quality it’ll have for fellow bride-to-be, Katie!

And as we’ve been reporting this week, the cast of the show have been talking to ITV about their roles in the live hour-long broadcast, and the latest of those is Lucy Pargeter and Liam Fox, who of course play Chas and Dan.

Emmerdale star Tom Lister says Carl is “cruel” to Chas Dingle because he still loves her & Bernice headed back to the village!

As fans of Emmerdale will probably know, in forthcoming episodes, Carl King is set to discover that his former fiancé Chas Dingle had an affair with Cameron Murray, and Carl being Carl, he’s going to use that knowledge to his own advantage…

We’ll see him demanding that Chas (Lucy Pargeter) repay him the £30,000 she took from him before ditching him at the altar in 2010 after she announced that she knew all about his affair with Eve Jensen (Suzanne Shaw).

Carl will tell Chas and Cameron (Dominic Power) that if he doesn’t get his money, both of their partners – that’s Dan Spencer (Liam Fox) and Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb) – will hear about their affair.

Emmerdale: Lucy Pargeter is having sleepless nights over live episode wedding scenes!

Emmerdale star Lucy Pargeter, who of course plays bride-to-be Chas Dingle, has revealed that she’s having “sleepless nights” ahead of the soap’s landmark 40th anniversary live episode.

And of course, as we reported this week, Lucy will be playing a large role in the hour-long live special as we see her character tie the knot with Dan Spencer (Liam Fox) in what is surely – as was promised by the show’s producer Stuart Blackburn earlier this year – one of the soap’s most unlikely romances ever.

Speaking to TV Biz about the responsibility of being expected to deliver a flawless performance while the show broadcasts live, Lucy said, “I’ve had anxiety dreams about not knowing my lines.
