Last night saw the very welcome return of DCS Mike Walker, DCI Roisin Conner and DS David Satchell in Lynda La Plante’s Trial & Retribution.
The first part of the new series opened with upper class no-good Sebastian Cole being taken by ambulance to hospital due to a heart condition, however, the ambulance was run off the road by drug barons, killing one of the paramedics and seriously injuring the other.
The patient, Sebastian, was then shot to death as he lay unconscious while his distraught fiancé Imogen stumbled from the wreckage and collapsed on waste ground. Enter gnarled DCS Walker and feisty DCI Connor… Read more & comment »

What an awesome part Jason Durr played as psychopathic killer Alan Daniels in Lynda La Plante’s Above Suspicion, which reached its gritty conclusion last night!
I’ve seen Jason in many roles before – most notably as copper Mike in Heartbeat – but this role was award winning stuff if you ask me, with the possible exception of his sometimes dodgy Mancunian accent. However, that didn’t detract from how powerfully he portrayed the deeply disturbed Daniels, but more of that later.
We took up the drama again as Daniels took Anna to the ballet while, unbeknown to him, she was recording his every word. But even as she was on her guard and keen to draw him out, Anna began to doubt that the very charming and genteel actor could be responsible for such brutality. Read more & comment »

Last night saw the start of ITV1’s new Lynda La Plante two-part drama, Above Suspicion and, in case you missed it, here’s a recap and review.
The concluding part is on tonight at 9pm.
A beautiful teenage girl has been missing for five days and when her dead body is found hidden on waste ground, DCI Langton – played by Ciaran Hinds – heads up the murder enquiry.
