When new Coronation Street boss, Stuart Blackburn, revealed that there were exciting storylines coming up for the Cropper family, he wasn’t kidding!

Corrie actress Patti Clare – who plays nuttier than squirrel poo Mary Taylor, stalker of Norris Cole – has said that her character is “oddly uninhibited.”

In an interview with the Radio Times about her Street character, Patti also lavished praise on Malcolm Hebden, who of course plays Norris, for his “comic abilities”.

She said of Mary, “She gets things wrong. She finds it difficult to express emotion, she’s socially awkward and desperately lonely.

Coronation Street actor Malcolm Hebden – who plays sappy shopkeeper Norris – has revealed that he found his present Norris-Mary storyline easy to play because he’s been through a similar situation in real life!

Malcolm explained to Inside Soap magazine how going on holiday with friends can turn into “absolute torture”.

Coronation Street actor Malcolm Hebden, who plays prissy shopkeeper Norris Cole, has told Inside Soap magazine that he’d like Patti Clare – who plays nutty Mary Taylor – to stay on the Street “for as long as possible.”

Malcolm and Patti are currently to be seen together on the show in the ‘Misery’ storyline during which Mary holds Norris captive in a remote cottage.
