In light of the recent arrest of Bill Roache, Coronation Street are said to be faced with a huge re-write as his character, Ken Barlow, was about to be part of what has been described as a huge storyline.

Roache, who has played the ageing lothario since the show first aired back in 1960, was arrested at his Wilmslow, Cheshire home on Wednesday, on two counts of rape of a 15 year old girl in the late 1960′s, and subsequently charged after questioning.

It’s been revealed today that easy on the eye actor Marc Baylis has been cast by Coronation Street bosses to play the role of Carla Connor’s long lost brother, Rob.

However, a few weeks ago, it was reported that Corrie star Kym Marsh’s fiancé Jamie Lomas – who of course formerly starred in Hollyoaks – had landed the part, but it would seem that was incorrect.

Of landing the role of Rob Connor, Marc – who’s also starred in Sirens, The Bill, EastEnders, Doctors and Hollyoaks – said “Rob’s an exciting character. I hope he’s going to ruffle a few Weatherfield feathers.”

And it would seem a few of those feather ruffling antics will centre around Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) who Rob’s keen on luring away from her boyfriend, Nick Tilsley (Ben Price)… Read more & comment »
