Desperate Housewives actress, Kathryn Joosten (Karen McCluskey), dies from lung cancer age 72, just 20 days after her character passed away on screen!

Award winning actress, Kathryn Joosten, star of Desperate Housewives, has sadly passed away aged 72 after a long battle with lung cancer.

Joosten, who played Karen McCluskey in the hit show, won two Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series Emmy Awards in 2005 & 2008  for her Wysteria Lane role , as well starring as secretary Mrs Landingham in The West Wing, and Aunt Jackie  in the blockbuster kids film, Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.

Desperate Housewives Spoiler: Wanna know which major character dies?!

As fans of Desperate Housewives will most likely know, actress Nicollette Sheridan – who played Edie Britt – is embroiled in a bitter legal battle with the show’s creator, Marc Cherry, who she alleges assaulted her and axed her from the show.

And during a hearing in an LA court yesterday – to decide the outcome of Nicollette’s case against Cherry for assault and wrongful dismissal – one of the show’s executive producers revealed which major character dies in the final season of Desperate Housewives.

Also in court yesterday, Cherry denied that he hit Sheridan during filming on September 24, 2008, and he also denied that her complaints about him led him to kill her character off.

Marc Cherry brings Louis Smith to Desperate Housewives

Lois Smith will be showing up on the new season of Desperate Housewives, it has been reported.

The 80 year old actress is best known as Sookie Stackhouse’s Grandmother Adele, who was murdered in Season 1 of vampire drama True Blood.

She will now join season seven of DH as Allison Scavo, Tom Scavo’s mum who comes to help her son recover from a bad case of sympathetic post natal depression.

Old faves to return for Desperate Housewives finale

The creator of Desperate Housewives, Marc Cherry, has revealed that some of the show’s best loved characters may return for season finale.

He said, “I can promise you we’ve got some old faces from the past returning in the season finale.

“For some people, it will be their last episode.

“And I’ve got a great little cliffhanger question that’s going to hang out over the series over the summer.

“It’s really, I think, going to be one of the best season finales we’ve ever done.” Read more & comment »

An early end for Desperate Housewives?


It’s being speculated today the hit US show Desperate Housewives may be finished at the end of season eight rather than season nine, which is apparently what the show’s creator, Marc Cherry had originally planned.

The website Deadline reports that ABC – the channel which airs the show in America – wants Cherry to concentrate his efforts on writing a new show for the network.

And it seems that the majority of the star of DH have not yet committed to the show beyond season eight… Read more & comment »

ABC & Teri Hatcher defend Desperate Housewive’s Marc Cherry

US TV network ABC have released a statement backing Desperate Housewives boss Marc Cherry, after former show star Nicollette Sheridan opened a law suit against him.

Nicollette claimed that during her time on the show, she was physically assaulted by Marc and when she reported the incident to ABC they promptly wrote her character Edie Britt out of the show. ABC bosses have now released the following statement:

Marc Cherry signs new Desperate Housewives deal

Marc Cherry has signed a new contract with US TV network. Variety reports that the executive producer will stay on board for the eighth and ninth season of the show.

An ABC spokesperson said that Cherry “has been such a special part of the network. For me it’s been an amazing collaboration. It’s wonderful to know that he’ll be around. The new stuff that he’s already working on is a huge priority for us”.
