Fans of Emmerdale will know that ever since Alicia Gallagher (Natalie Anderson) returned to the village after her stint in prison, David Metcalfe has – finally – realised that he does in fact have feelings for her…

The pair of course arranged a sham marriage last year so that David (Matthew Wolfenden) could retain custody of Alicia’s son Jacob during her incarceration.

However, by the time Alicia got out of prison at Christmas, David was of course in a relationship with Priya Sharma (Fiona Wade) to whom he’s now engaged! Read more & comment »

Emmerdale couple David Metcalfe and Priya Sharma have of course been an item for months now, however, because David (Matthew Wolfenden) was in a sham marriage to Alicia Gallagher (Natalie Anderson) they had to keep their relationship a secret…

But as Alicia and her son Jacob now know about David and Priya – as will the rest of the village shortly – the couple can now be open about their romance, however, there’s to be an unexpected twist because while assuring Priya that it’s her he loves and not Alicia, shopkeeper David will accidentally propose!

Fiona Wade, who of course plays gorgeous barmaid Priya, has explained to Soaplife how her character gets the wrong end of the proposal stick.

As we reported yesterday, little Jacob Gallagher is going to be left distraught when he realizes that his step-dad David Metcalfe is in a relationship with barmaid Priya Sharma (Fiona Wade) because of course, even since his mum Alicia told him that she and David were over, Jacob’s been hoping they’d get back together…

But when he spots David and Priya kissing, he knows that’s unlikely to happen, and David has to face up to what he’s been dreading most; telling Jacob the truth that in fact, he was never in love with Alicia (Natalie Anderson) and that they only married so that he could have custody of the little boy while his mum was in prison.

Two of our favourite soap stars are about to go head to head in the new series of popular ITV quiz show, All Star Family Fortunes, in a bid to win money for their chosen charities.

Coronation Street star, Mikey North, who plays father to be Gary Windass in the hit ITV1 soap, will take on Emmerdale star and Dancing On Ice champ, Matthew Wolfenden, who plays David Metcalfe in the battle hosted by Vernon Kay.

As fans of Emmerdale will know, Charley Webb, who plays Debbie Dingle, is in real life in a relationship with her co-star Matthew Wolfenden, and the couple have a toddler son, Buster.

However, Charley has revealed that not only is she fed up of people asking when she and Matthew are going to get married, she also turned down the scriptwriters’ offer to have her character involved in an on-screen romance with David Metcalfe, who is of course Matthew’s character.

First, of the barrage of questions about when/if she and Matthew are going to get married, Charley told New! magazine, “People say to me all the time, ‘Why aren’t you married?’

“People are obsessed by it. We’ve got a little boy, which is much more important.”

And of the show’s writers suggesting Debbie and David become an item in the village, Charley said, “I said no – we’d kill each other. It’s really important to have that separate life.” Read more & comment »

In an upcoming episode of Emmerdale, Nikhil Sharma will be horrified when he spots his sister Priya kissing married shopkeeper Davie Metcalfe.

But of course, what he doesn’t realise is that David’s marriage to Alicia Gallagher (Natalie Anderson) was a marriage of convenience – for him at any rate – and only in order for David (Matthew Wolfenden) to keep Alicia’s son Jacob in the village while his mum’s in prison.

David confessed to Priya (Fiona Wade) that his marriage was a sham during a recent chat in the pub, and the pair have been getting closer of late.

As fans of Emmerdale will know, Rachel Breckle (Gemma Oaten) is pregnant with Jai Sharma’s baby…

And given that he is of course married to Charity (Emma Atkins) Jai (Chris Bisson) has promised Rachel that if she’ll just keep schtum about the fact he’s the father, he’ll provide her with all the material things she needs to raise their child in comfort.

And for Rachel, who’s always lived life on the breadline, the prospect of not having to worry about paying the rent and bills is an attractive one, even if it does irk her that her child may become Jai’s “dirty little secret.”

Emmerdale actor, Matthew Wolfenden has confirmed that his soap character, David Metcalfe will engage in a secret affair with pretty barmaid Priya Sharma, and that his alter-ego will enjoy all the secret snogging sessions!

Fans of the hit ITV soap will know that David  is married to jail-bird Alicia (Natalie Anderson) in order to keep custody of her young son, Jake while she is inside.  However, the sham marriage hit a bump in the road when Alicia admitted to David before being sent down that she was actually in love with him, feelings that he doesn’t seem to reciprocate!

Fans of Emmerdale will know that shopkeeper David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) recently married Alicia Gallagher (Natalie Anderson) in order to ensure that while she’s in prison, he would get to have custody of her son, Jacob.

However, after the wedding, Alicia confessed to David that not only had she married him under false pretences – because she already knew that her former husband Justin wouldn’t fight David for custody of the boy – but also that she’s in love with him.

But David made it very clear to her that the feeling isn’t mutual, and it seems that he may now in fact be about to embark on a romance with Priya Sharma (Effie Woods) to whom on Thursday night’s visit to the Dales, he’ll confess the truth about his sham marriage.

We love it here at Unreality TV when art mirror’s life in the soap world, and nothing does it better than when two soap actors fall in love after the camera turns off.

In EastEnders you have the young relationships of co-stars Matt Lapinskas (Anthony Moon) and Shona McGarty (Whitney Dean) and the more recent romance between Tony Discipline (Tyler Moon) and Jacqueline Jossa (Lauren Branning).  In Emmerdale there is the bizarre real life marriage between Jeff Hordley (Cain Dingle) and Zoe Henry (Rhona the vet) and the engagement between Charley Webb (Debbie Dingle) and Matthew Wolfenden (David Metcalfe).

In Coronation Street the path of true love doesn’t run quite so smooth, with all off-screen romances resulting in one half leaving the show, like Samia Ghadie (Maria Connor) and Will Thorp (Chris the wife-beater) and Ryan Thomas (Jason Grimshaw) and Tina O’Brien (Sarah Louise Grimshaw), who spilt up not long after O’Brien’s departure.

So, tonight is the night of life changing decisions in Emmerdale, but will everything go to plan?

First of all there is the wedding between David (Matthew Wolfenden) and Alicia (Natalie Anderson).  Fans of the show will know that the only reason that the couple are getting wed is so that David will get temporary custody of Alicia’s son, Jacob, when she faces prison time in a few weeks.
