Last Friday, I met with the cast and crew of hit ITV soap Emmerdale at the show’s headquarters in Leeds, and among the actors I spoke to on the day was Natalie J Robb, who of course plays Moira Barton…

Fans of Emmerdale will know that Adam Barton (Adam Thomas) hates Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) primarily because it was his affair with Adam’s mum Moira that set into motion events that ended with the death of Adam’s dad, John Barton…

So it’s no surprise that since Moira (Natalie J Robb) officially announced that she and Cain are an item again earlier this year, Adam has struggled to see his mum with the man he blames for the death of his father.

This week, I had the pleasure of meeting Emmerdale star Natalie J Robb – who of course plays the role of Moira Barton – at the show’s studios in Leeds, and over lunch, we had a chat about what lies ahead for her character and her character’s lover, Cain Dingle, who’s played by Jeff Hordley.

First, I asked, “Is there any chance Cain and Moira will be walking down the aisle in the near future?

Natalie replied, “Well I don’t know about it if there is, so I can’t comment on that, but I can tell you there’s some turmoil coming up for them!

In next week’s episodes of Emmerdale, Moira Barton (Natalie J Robb) is set to break the news that she’s pregnant to her boyfriend Cain Dingle…

And though initially neither of them quite know how to cope with the situation, it will quickly become apparent that Cain (Jeff Hordley) wants the baby and he wants them to become a proper family in which to raise the child.

There’s tragedy in store for Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) this week, who, having only just learned that his girlfriend Moira Barton (Natalie J Robb) is pregnant, soon has to cope with the news that she’s miscarried.

The drama begins on Monday 15th when, having overheard Amy Wyatt (Chelsea Halfpenny) talking about how vile Cain was to her when she was pregnant with Kyle – who she gave up for adoption – Moira’s on edge about how he’ll react to the prospect of being a father to her child.

However, when she finally breaks the news to him that she’s pregnant – in Tuesday’s episode – she’s taken aback when he’s happy at the baby news, but when Moira tries to point out how hard it’ll be to be parents to a baby again, the shine is tarnished for Cain who thinks she doesn’t want the baby. Coming up next week on Emmerdale, Robbie Lawson (Jamie Shelton) decides to try to earn some brownie points with his boss Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb) after Cain Dingle fixes his girlfriend Moira’s car for free, much to Debbie’s annoyance…

And he does so by stealing money from Moira (Natalie J Robb) which, when Cain (Jeff Hordley) finds out, could well earn him a beating!

However, he’s set to discover that Debbie – though currently being nothing but ruthless where business is concerned – isn’t impressed, and angrily tells him that she’ll make decisions about matters such as unpaid bills, while pointing out that what happens between herself and her dad is none of Robbie’s business.

Emmerdale resident Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb) has of course undergone rather a dramatic change in personality of late, and is determined to be as hard-nosed a businesswoman as it takes to make sure nobody stands in her way…

Her goal in life is money and making as much of it as possible, and she’s made it clear she won’t be taking any prisoners in her endeavours, so when her dad Cain (Jeff Hordley) repairs his girlfriend Moira’s 4×4 for free, Debbie’s furious.

She demands that he charge Moira (Natalie J Robb) but he refuses, which is a heated exchange that Debbie’s new employee Robbie (Jamie Shelton) overhears… Read more & comment »

Emmerdale viewers will know that Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb) hates her aunt Chas with a passion given that she had an affair with Debbie’s boyfriend Cameron (Dominic Power) and the Dingle clan being what it is, she expects everyone else in the family to hate Chas too…

And for a while, most of them did, however Chas’s sister Gennie (Sian Reese Walker) is now on side with Chas again, and Debbie’s dad Cain is about to be, but for Debbie, his rebuilding of sibling bridges with Chas (Lucy Pargeter) is yet another betrayal which could see father and daughter divided forever.

The New Year will bring mixed fortunes for our Emmerdale friends, with romance blossoming for some, while for others, 2013 begins with heartache…

And for Cameron Murray, when a relative of his latest murder victim arrives in the village wanting answers about the missing resident’s whereabouts, Cameron (Dominic Power) may well be left facing the prospect of killing yet again!

However, for Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and Moira Barton (Natalie J Robb) by the time the New Year rolls around, they will have decided that regardless of what the rest of the villagers – or their families for that matter – say or think, they’re going to go public with their romance, and to hell with the consequences.

Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle has – until recently – always been a bad lad who’s constantly on the lookout for mischief and who never shies away from a fight…

However, since the infamous Judgement Day attack, which saw Cain left fighting for his life after his own dad Zak (Steve Halliwell) beat him nearly to death, Cain has been changing. He’s mellowed out considerably, and has become a caring dad to his daughter Debbie (Charley Webb) and an even more caring granddad to her poorly daughter Sarah.

He’s even struck up a truce with his ex, Charity Sharma (Emma Atkins) for the sake of their daughter, and he’s forgiven his dad for attacking him!
