Ah, Mick St John. The deadest private dick in Los Angeles*. I’ve been watching this series on Living for the last few weeks, waiting for a glimmer of hope that the hammy plot and acting would turn a corner. And I think it just happened tonight.
In this fourth episode, Mick - who can survive in sunlight, but not strong sunlight - gets stranded in the desert with a pregnant girl he’s protecting. And it couldn’t be a cloudy day, could it?

Recently voted Best New TV Drama by The People’s Choice Awards 2008 in the US, Moonlight is already leaving its mark on US viewers and arrives on LIVING this February. Private Investigator Mick St John (Alex O’Loughlin, The Shield) is a vampire who ironically makes it his mission to help people, rather than adhere to the usual vampiric tendencies.
In 1983, Mick attacked his client’s killer and in the process revealed that he was a vampire. Having failed to finish the job, and kill the murderer, Lee Jay, Mick has left himself exposed and vulnerable. Lee Jay was arrested and charged with the murder, but has now been released after years of imprisonment, vowing revenge on the vampire. Mick must also face one of his worst fears: having the truth of his immortal identity revealed to Beth.

This is a great week for new TV series’. Not only do we have The Sarah Connor Chronicles staring on Thursday but also this Tuesday sees the launch of the all new vampire drama, Moonlight, on Living.
In some ways the series has an almost modern day Interview with a Vampire kind of feeling. Think Brad Pitt’s character Louis, you know the vampire with the concsience and you’ve got the picture.
