The Inbetweeners creator Iain Morris defends US remake on Twitter

Somewhat surprisingly, The Inbetweeners creator Iain Morris has defended the much panned US version of the show via the medium of heaping praise on the show’s production team.

On Twitter, Iain wrote, “I’m not going to comment on the AmericanInbetweeners a lot because I have to use Twitter for more interesting things like complaining…

“But the pilot director, Taika Waititi, has made consistently funny TV shows and one of my favourite films of all time in [2010 comedy-drama] Boy.

”Brad [Copeland], the showrunner, is a very funny man who has worked on Arrested Developmentand My Name is Earl, two shows I love.

Websites that featured the clip of the MTV show were swamped with negative comments, including, “America needs to stop making copies of class British shows! First Skins and now this!? STOP IT!”

And another angry Inbetweener fan wrote, “THIS LOOKS HORRIBLE! The British version was terrific but it was British humour with British actors and it should have stayed that way…” Read more & comment »

The US series stars Joey Pollari as Will McKenzie, Bubba Lewis as Simon Cooper, Zack Pearlman as Jay Cartwright and Mark L. Young as Neil Sutherland… Read more & comment »
