Whilst details, so far, of Clare Devine’s Hollyoaks return have been kept tightly under-wraps, it now seems that the villainous vixen is to arrive back in the village in the midst of a kidnap drama involving Mercedes McQueen!

As we reported last month, Gemma Bissix, the actress who plays Clare Devine, is set to reprise her role as the scheming black widow at the end of this month, having connected with Dr Browning (Joe Thompson) and Mercedes (Jennifer Metcalfe) whilst they were in Las Vegas, although the how’s and why’s were unknown.

Hollyoaks has certainly had its share of villains in the past, but there is something quite cold and calculating about its newest member to the elite evil club.

Doctor Browning (Joseph Thompson) first appeared on our screens as a client of Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) whilst she was hiring out her personal services, shall we say, and since then has managed to work his way into her heart and family.

A deep set obsession with the fieriest McQueen in the family became evident when Dr Browning took the drastic measure of killing Lynsey Nolan in order to silence her knowledge that Mercedes had stabbed herself and framed Mitzeee Minniver (Rachel Shenton) for the crime.

Dirk Savage is set to make a spectacular grand gesture in an upcoming Hollyoaks storyline when he proposes to Myra McQueen believing she is pregnant, but is left gob-smacked when she reveals that actually she only has months left to live, the Daily Star reports.

Fans of the hit Channel 4 soap will know how, under the guidance of Dr Browning (Joe Thompson), Myra (Nicole Barber-Lane) has been having tests done at the hospital to determine what is wrong with her after feeling unwell over the Christmas period.

Fans of Hollyoaks will be pleased to know that as of next week, the main male McQueen, John Paul, is returning to our Channel 4 screens!

John Paul McQueen was last seen on Hollyoaks back in 2008 when he left the village to peruse a happier life with his best friend, tuned lover, Craig Dean (Guy Burnett) in Dublin.

Since he has been away the McQueen family have endured more than their fair share of heartache, including the Silas Blissett murder spree, and more recently the self-inflicted stabbing of his sister, Mercedes and the death of his sister, Jacqui’s husband Rhys.

Now, with the family still deeply in turmoil, it is up to John Paul to make things a bit more normal for them as he returns to the village.  But, as with all McQueens, his homecoming brings its fair share of dramas with him.

We reported a few weeks ago how the McQueen’s were set for maximum drama this Christmas in Hollyoaks with the arrival of baby Jesus and a revelation over the turkey that will destroy lives, and now we have a few more details for you.

This Christmas Jacqui (Claire Cooper) decides to make it a day to remember in a bid to put her grief over her husband, Rhys’ death and betrayal finally behind her. However, it was always going to get messy, especially when she invites Tony (Nick Pickard) and his wife Cindy (Stephanie Waring), who happens to be the woman that Rhys had been having the affair with, over to celebrate the festive season with her, and the truth finally comes out.

Myra McQueen is set to proclaim herself as the next Virgin Mary this Christmas in Hollyoaks when she discovers an abandoned baby on her doorstep on Christmas day, and promptly names him Jesus!

Things have been far from harmonious for the McQueen family in the last six months, what with Michaela (Hollie-Jay Bowes) heading off to pastures new, Carmel (Gemma Merna) being scarred for life by an exploding tanning machine, Bart (Johnny Clark) getting caught growing a cannabis farm, Myra (Nicole Barber-Lane) going to prison for it, Jacqui (Claire Cooper) adopting Phoebe (Mandip Gill), and Rhys (Andy Moss) having an affair and then being killed in the tragic wedding day bus crash.

And that’s before we’ve even mentioned Mercedes!

Bryan Kirkwood, the new executive producer of hit Channel 4 soap, Hollyoaks, has revealed that he would love for Brit girl group sensation, Girls Aloud, to make an appearance on the show.

Fans of Hollyoaks will be used to its cutting edge storylines, which are often injected with current faces in the music industry including the likes of Wretch 32, Tinchy Strider and Maverick Sabre all making cameo’s as themselves, but Kirkwood has said that with Girls Aloud, he would actually like to cast them, as McQueens!
