With the prospect of prison looking ever possible, Alicia Gallagher is getting desperate for the well-being of son Jake in Emmerdale, worried that if he goes to stay with his dad whilst she is away then she will lose custody of the young lad permanently, but David has a plan!

Whist her court date grows closer, Alicia (Natalie Anderson) starts making plans for her absence, and asks David (Matthew Wolfenden) if he would take care of Jake, which he agrees to do.

As fans of Emmerdale will probably know, Natalie Anderson – who plays feisty barmaid Alicia Gallagher – is expecting her first baby, a boy, later this year…

However, though she’ll disappear from our screens during her maternity leave, Alicia has told the Daily Mail that she intends to be back on the show by Christmas.

Her exit storyline begins in tonight’s episode, when we see Alicia thumping Val Pollard (Charlie Hardwick) in the face after she interrupts a pivotal moment in the budding romance between Alicia and David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden).

And when Val calls in the police to report the assault, it emerges that Alicia has a criminal record for a previous assault on one of her mum’s carers. As fans of Emmerdale will most likely know, Natalie Anderson – who plays gobby barmaid Alicia Gallagher – is expecting her first baby, and it seems she just can’t stop watching Channel 4 documentary series One Born Every Minute!

Natalie’s baby is due in August, and she and husband James are busy preparing for the arrival of their little one by poring over baby name books and learning as much as they can about what to expect during her labour.

Emmerdale star Natalie Anderson has revealed to Hello! magazine that she’s expecting her first baby.

Natalie, who plays Alicia Gallagher, joked that she would have to disguise her pregnancy on the show until she goes on maternity leave in June.

She said, “I think there’ll be a lot of standing around the bar and carrying huge handbags.”

However, Natalie, who looks like she’d weigh about five stone soaking wet, said that most people hadn’t yet noticed that she has a baby bump.

She said of herself and her husband James Shepherd, “We’ve not been going to many functions and I’ve been disguising it quite a lot.”

Natalie went on to reveal that when she and James attended her first ultrasound scan of the baby, which is due in August, they both became emotional.

Making Emmerdale news today is that Danny Miller has had a car crash, but the good news is, he’s tweeted to tell fans that he’s “fine.”

However, as a result of the accident Danny – who of course plays Aaron Livesy and who recently announced that he’s leaving the show – had to cancel a personal appearance in Reading at the weekend to switch on the town’s Christmas lights.

It was apparently while he was en route from Yorkshire to Reading that the accident happened.

But after a check up in hospital, Danny tweeted, “Reading! I am so so sorry for not being there today. Truly. From the bottom of my heart!

“I’ve had a check up after the bump and everything’s fine..

“Bit of swelling on my knee but nothing to worry about. I’ll make it up to you somehow. I am so so sorry!!” Read more & comment »

As fans of Emmerdale will know, Andy Sugden’s daughter Sarah Dingle has been diagnosed with a rare but potentially life threatening illness…

And Alicia Gallagher – who’s played by Natalie Anderson – is caught in the middle of the turmoil over the little girl, as she is of course Andy’s (Kelvin Fletcher) girlfriend.

As we’ll see in forthcoming episodes, Andy and his ex, Debbie (Charley Webb) decide to conceive another baby – a so called ‘saviour sibling’ – in order that the new baby can donate bone marrow to Sarah.

But while all the arrangements and worries are going on, Alicia is set to feel sidelined.

Emmerdale star Natalie Anderson has revealed that she’s so obsessed with weddings, she’s asked the bosses of the rural soap to marry off her character Alicia Gallagher.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Natalie said, “I’ve dropped hints. But nothing so far. I’d love to see Alicia in a massive pink wedding dress.”

Natalie also confessed that she still wears her own wedding gown at home, three years after marrying her husband.

Natalie Anderson, who plays Emmerdale’s Alicia Gallagher, has revealed that dressing in her character’s “risqué” outfits helps her to get into character for filming.

However, while speaking to the Daily Star, Natalie added that in real life, she’d never dress like Alicia does.

She said, “She’s a little bit risque with her clothes but she doesn’t care what people think.

“She always dresses to kill. I think it’s hilarious because it’s so different to how I dress so it’s really good fun.

“I really enjoy her clothes, it’s a great character to play. My favourite is her teeny-weeny white miniskirt, which is like a belt…

“It’s so tiny and she likes to wear it with her silver heels and one of her many low-cut animal print tops.

Natalie Anderson, who of course plays feisty Alicia Gallagher in Emmerdale, and Lucy Pargeter, who plays Chas Dingle, have both revealed the worst jobs they’ve ever had.

Speaking to Inside Soap, Natalie said, “I’ve had loads of rubbish jobs, but the worst was being a mascot for a rugby team.

“I dressed as a bull, and having to wear that big costume for two-and-a-half hours on a hot day was pretty horrid.

“The head was really stinky inside – you felt like you wanted to throw up the whole time!”

As fans of Emmerdale will know, Alicia and Andy’s relationship is in crisis since Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) has now called off their planned move to Spain.

And the news that they won’t be leaving for a life in the sun has devastated Alicia, who’s played by Natalie Anderson.

She told Soaplife recently that Alicia and Andy are soon to split up under the strain of that, and Andy’s worry about his daughter Sarah’s illness…
