Dermot O’Leary Replaces Trevor McDonald On National Television Awards

Dermot O’Leary is to replace Sir Trevor McDonald as the host of the National Television Awards.

The new revamped ceremony will move to O2 arena in London, and instead of airing in its usual autumn slot it is moved to January 2010.

“I’m delighted to announce this new deal which secures the NTAs – the most popular television awards, as chosen by viewers – on ITV1 until 2011 at a fantastic new home in the O2 arena,” said ITV’s Elaine Bedell.

“I’m also very pleased to be announcing Dermot as the new host of the awards, and I have no doubt that he’s the right man to continue the excellent job that Sir Trevor has done over the last 13 years.”

BBC Want To Steal National Television Awards!

Sources have claimed that the BBC are hoping to steal next years National Television Awards from ITV after their contract with producer Indigo TV expires.

A source told The Sun: “The bosses are keen to get this awards show as it really connects with the audience.

“Unlike Bafta, virtually all awards are voted for by viewers so it strikes a chord with the audience.
