Fans of Father Ted will undoubtedly recognise Pauline McLynn as Mrs Doyle, housekeeper of Craggy Island’s Parochial House however, we’re about to see the brilliant Pauline in a very different role as a librarian who’s set to become Frank Gallagher’s new love interest in Shameless.

So, the Quattro was fired up, everybody wore clothes that would make Tranny and Susannah throw up and Alex was/is still stuck in the past, but now she’s in 1982 and of course Gene Hunt is still loud, bullish and fabulously opinionated and has – thank the gods of TV script writing heaven – lost the annoying American accent that he adopted in Demons and is back to his Mancunian self. Praise be.
If I had to choose just one line that I loved from Gene last night, it would be when he exclaimed that signs should be erected in “every train station in the north saying the streets of London are paved with sh**”. Rumour has it that Wallace and Gromit could be set to appear in a new TV show about “amazing contraptions”.
“We’re talking about a series that could involve inventions in which Wallace and Gromit could appear” Oscar-winning Aardman Animations founder Nick Park told The Independent.
“My dad used to spend time in the shed building things” Nick told the newspaper, adding “But I also used to love stories – HG Wells, The Time Machine; you know, those stories which were all about Victorian inventors who built rockets and things like that.
“I think I used to want to be an inventor as a child and I’m sort of living that out. I used to keep a box under my bed with broken toys and old electric motors…” Read more & comment »
