This week, Nigel concentrates on transforming leftovers into delicious suppers by adding just a few simple ingredients. He shows viewers how the remains of a Sunday roast can become a tasty chicken salad with cous cous and oranges; uses up leftover mash to create potato cakes with a creamy sauce; makes a quick and easy dessert of rhubarb tart with mascarpone cream; shares an imaginative new way to serve mackerel; and makes a tempting leek risotto, served with parmesan crisps.

Chef, Nigel Slater, has revealed that he can tell a lot about a person by what food they like to eat.
Nigel’s new TV show features different celebrities sharing details about memorable meals they have enjoyed.
In his new series, which returns to BBC Two next week, Royle Family actress Liz Smith tells Nigel how she had to cook the same carrot and lentil soup for her children every day as she couldn’t afford anything else.
Nigel told MSN: “Many of the guests were around in the period after the war, when ingredients were limited.
“Their parents had lived through rationing, so there was still that way of looking at food – waste nothing, buy very cheap cuts of meat and other cheap ingredients. It’s very interesting to find that about, especially from people who are now successful. Read more & comment »
