When we rejoin the drama of Gennie Walker and Nikhil Sharma’s wedding day on Monday 15 April, we see a distraught Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams) apologizing profusely to Nikhil for being unable to wed without having her mum Brenda there…
Loving Nikhil (Rik Makarem) does his best to comfort Gennie and tells her he understands, but as she gets more upset, she tells him she thinks they’re cursed.
And sadly, her words may be prophetic because later that day, things go from bad to worse when Brenda has a seizure and drops to the floor, unconscious. Read more & comment »

His brother Jai (Chris Bisson) has arranged the big night, and though he’s had just a matter of days to throw it together, he’s hired exotic dancers and decked out Holdgate to become a “sweetie paradise” complete with costumes for everyone.
However, shy Nikhil – who’s been dressed as an Oompa Loompa – is nervous when he realises that Jai has arranged a “stripper thing,” but despite Jai’s protestations that the whole thing is in very good taste, it’s not. Take a look… Read more & comment »

In next week’s episodes of Emmerdale, Nikhil Sharma (Rik Makarem) is horrified when, in preparation for his stag do – he is of course marrying Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams) this week – Declan Macey (Jason Merrells) and David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) force him to put on an oompa-loompa outfit!
However, he’s even more horrified when he’s then led back to Holdgate, which he finds has been transformed into a “sweetie paradise” complete with exotic dancing “candy girls!” Read more & comment »
Fans of Emmerdale will know that frantic Gennie Walker (Sian Reese-Williams) and her fiancé Nikhil Sharma (Rik Makarem) have tried everything they can think of to convince Gennie’s mum Brenda to undergo surgery to remove the brain tumour that could kill her if left untreated…
However, Brenda (Lesley Dunlop) has persistently refused to have the op, so in despair, in the episode that airs on April 1, Gennie furiously tells Brenda that as she’s evidently choosing to die rather than have the surgery, she can no longer have anything to do with baby Molly.
Gennie tells her devastated mum that it’s not fair on Molly to let her get close to and love her grandmother if she’s not going to be around much longer. Read more & comment »
Last night saw the amazing Emmerdale Live hour-long episode, which boasted two wedding, two births and a murder, whilst managing to maintain comedy levels to an all-time high throughout as well.
We all watched with utter amazement at what is already been classed as the best ever live soap episode, beating the likes of its two biggest rivals, Coronation Street and EastEnders who have both attempted similar live broadcasts to mark their own shows anniversaries. According to overnight figures, a peak audience of 9.2m tuned in for the show, the highest-rated episode of the soap to date, with viewing figures reaching their high in the last 15 minutes which saw Carl King (Tom Lister) meet his maker at the hands of Cameron Murray (Dominic Power).

In upcoming episodes of Emmerdale, factory boss Jai Sharma is damn near shooting up his own jacksy in his attempts to keep the news that he is the father of Rachel Breckle’s baby a secret…
But when Rachel (Gemma Oaten) tells him the date and time of her first ultrasound scan, he’s determined to be there to get the first glimpse of his bubby, however, he didn’t make any contingency plans for what to do if he bumped into someone he knew at the hospital.
And unluckily for him, exactly that happens when he runs smack dab into his brother Nikhil!
As we’ll see in the episode which airs a week tomorrow, Nikhil (Rik Makarem) has raced to get his pregnant fiancé Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams) to hospital after she suspected she was going into labour prematurely… Read more & comment »
Next month is a big one for Emmerdale as it will reach its landmark 40th anniversary, and to celebrate, the show’s bosses have a whole host of shows lined up, including of course the highly anticipated live broadcast.
As we reported earlier this week, a huge amount of planning and preparation has gone into the live hour-long episode, which will feature the double wedding of Katie Sugden and Declan Macey alongside Chas Dingle and Dan Spencer’s big day.
And there will be the murder of one of the show’s major characters, but the introduction of two new ones in the form of Gennie Walker and Debbie Dingle’s babies!
Ahead of the milestone event, the cast have been talking to ITV about their roles in the anniversary episodes, and today, we have two more of those interviews for you as Rik Makarem and Sian Reese-Wiliams, who of course play expectant parents Nikhil Sharma and Gennie Walker, reveal their nerves about having such pivotal parts to play in the live show.

In an upcoming episode of Emmerdale, Nikhil Sharma will be horrified when he spots his sister Priya kissing married shopkeeper Davie Metcalfe.
But of course, what he doesn’t realise is that David’s marriage to Alicia Gallagher (Natalie Anderson) was a marriage of convenience – for him at any rate – and only in order for David (Matthew Wolfenden) to keep Alicia’s son Jacob in the village while his mum’s in prison.
David confessed to Priya (Fiona Wade) that his marriage was a sham during a recent chat in the pub, and the pair have been getting closer of late.
However, back to Nikhil (Rik Makarem) and how he reacts when he spots Priya and David kissing, he’ll tell David that he “disgusts” him and tells his sister that he’s ashamed of her… Read more & comment »
Emmerdale star Rik Makarem has revealed that he thinks his character Nikhil Sharma will be “the most protective dad ever” when his child is born later this year.
Nikhil has of course only just learned that he’s to be a dad, and it was his sister-in-law Charity (Emma Atkins) who broke the news after Nikhil revealed to her that he’d broken up with Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams) because he thought she was about to end things with him!
But as fans of the show will know, Gennie’s increasingly odd behaviour has been because she’s terrified to tell Nikhil that she’s over four months pregnant, fearing that he’ll ditch her when he finds out.
In tonight’s episode – you can see a sneak peek clip after the jump – we’ll see Nikhil propose to Gennie, who is at first delighted, until she realizes that he now knows about her pregnancy, and so she assumes his proposal was only “doing the right thing” rather than because he truly wants her to be his wife… Read more & comment »
As fans of Emmerdale will know, Nikhil Sharma is set to become a daddy in October when his girlfriend Gennie Walker gives birth to their baby…
However, there’s a long and somewhat rocky road to go before the happy event, and that journey begins next week when Nikhil proposes to Gennie, only to have the ring thrown back in his face once Gennie realizes he knows she’s pregnant.
It is of course Nikhil’s sister-in-law Charity (Emma Atkins) who spills the baby beans to the clueless factory boss, and he immediately decides there’s only one way forward; propose to Gennie!
And that’s all tickety boo, and she’s delighted to accept his proposal, right up until he lets slip that he knows she’s pregnant. Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams) has of course not yet told him herself as she feared he would be furious and possibly end their relationship.
However, the opposite is the case, and Nikhil – who’s played by Rik Makarem – couldn’t be more delighted, and once he convinces Gennie of that fact, things are again harmonious and the couple will make plans for the wedding and the arrival of little baby Sharma… Read more & comment »
Emmerdale star Rik Makarem has promised that his character Nikhil Sharma and his pregnant girlfriend Gennie Walker will “have a happy ending” to their often turbulent relationship.
As fans of the show will know, Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams) has been putting off telling Nikhil that she’s over four months pregnant because she fears he’ll end their relationship, given he’s previously told her he doesn’t want children.
However, while speaking to Inside Soap, Rik – who’s also starred in BBC’s Torchwood: Children of Earth and ITV period drama Foyle’s War – revealed that far from being upset, Nikhil will be overjoyed at the prospect of being a dad.
In fact, he’s going to be so happy about the news that he’ll ask Gennie to marry him so that they can be a proper family when the little one arrives.
Rik said, “I think there will definitely be a happy ending to this story – but it won’t be an easy road there!” Read more & comment »
Emmerdale star Sian Reese-Williams has revealed to the TV Times that if she were her character Gennie Walker, she would’ve dumped factory boss and anally retentive boyfriend Nikhil Sharma long since!
As fans of the show will know, Gennie has just found out that she’s expecting Nikhil’s baby, but she hasn’t broken the news to him yet, fearing his reaction given that he’s told her previously that he doesn’t want children.
Of the plotline, and of how Gennie copes with Nikhil (Rik Makarem) being so obsessed with tidiness, sport and healthy living – which is almost diametrically opposite to how Gennie lives her life – Sian said, “They have a communication problem and can’t tell each other anything.
“He keeps going on about not wanting kids and it’s putting her off telling him.”
She added, “Do you know, if I were Gennie, I would have dumped him ages ago… Read more & comment »
