EastEnders: Pam St Clement enjoys the show more now she’s left!

Former EastEnders star Pam St Clement has revealed that she loves watching the show now that she’s left.

However, she also revealed to OK! magazine that because she’s so critical of herself and her performances, she almost didn’t watch her final emotional Walford scenes.

She said, “I wasn’t going to watch it, because I thought I would say ‘you silly moo, what have you done!’

“I was going to watch it on my own, but my family said they really wanted to see it, so I watched it with them and I was actually quite quiet.”

EastEnders: Pam St Clement on the real reason she left the show, and Laila Morse is taking time off

News from Walford way today includes Pam St Clement revealing the real reason why she decided to leave EastEnders and her role as Pat Evans, and also that Laila Morse – who of course plays Big Mo Harris – is taking time off to get into training to star in Dancing on Ice.

But starting with 69 year old Pam, she told the Daily Mirror, “As an actor I am a great believer in leaving the stage while they still want more.

“My greatest fear is that you will bore the audience. And once that thought has popped into your head you then have to go through with the practicalities of it.”

Pam, who’s a staunch advocate for, and supporter of, animal rights issues, and who originally wanted to be a vet, went on to say that she’d now like to try making wildlife programmes… Read more & comment »

When Pat Evans (Pam St Clement) died on New Year’s Day, 10.4million of us tuned in to see her off to the great Square in the sky in the arms of her son David Wicks (Michael French).

EastEnders: Pam St Clement thought she’d get “hate mail” and show’s boss on 2012 plotlines

The now former EastEnders star Pam St Clement has revealed that when she first joined the show as Pat Evans – who has previously been Pat Harris, Beale and Butcher! – she expected to receive “hate mail”.

Speaking to the PA about her iconic Walford character, Pam said, “It’s strange because even in the early years I thought I’d get hate mail…

“But I didn’t, and I think that what people liked was a vivacious go-getting, a person with an interesting history and a person who under it all was really quite vulnerable.”

And of how she feels now Pat has died, Pam said, “She’s been my doppelganger all these years, 25-and-a-half years…

“And maybe I might find myself emerging like a chrysalis from this from the image of Pat, I don’t know.

“I’ve never had that image of myself, but the audience probably has and I think I’d hope they’d remember it.” Read more & comment »

Stars pay tribute to Pam St Clement after her EastEnders character Pat dies

Last night’s episode of EastEnders was a tearjerker as Pat Evans – who is, or rather, was, played by Pam St Clement – made amends with wicked step-daughter Janine Malloy (Charlie Brooks) and her son David Wicks (Michael French) before gasping her last.

Pat died in bed with her family around her after learning she had just days to live due to an aggressive cancer.

And of course, we also learned that Janine intends to keep the baby she’s carrying and start a new life with Michael Moon (Steve John Shepherd).

EastEnders: Pam St Clement says she could never be friends with Pat Evans!

EastEnders star Pam St Clement has of course been giving lots of interviews as the end of her time on the show draws nigh…

And of course, having played Pat Evans – who was previously Pat Harris, Pat Wicks, Pat Beale and Pat Butcher – for 25 years, she has a lot to talk about.

However, in an interview with the Sun’s TV Biz, Pam revealed that she and Pat wouldn’t be friends, given how very different their personalities are.

In real life, Pam is notoriously private and has always refused to be photographed by the press “out of character”.

And unlike Pat, Pam is well spoken, quiet and refined; a far cry from former prostitute, recidivist spouse, and outspoken matriarch Pat.

However, of filming her final scenes – in which Pat of course dies – Pam said, “I didn’t cry because for me it isn’t the end.

EastEnders: Pam St Clement says she’ll “grieve” for her character, Pat Evans

EastEnders star Pam St Clement, who is of course about to play out her last scenes on the show as Pat Evans, has revealed that she expects to “grieve” for her character.

As fans will know, we’re to see the Walford icon pass away on New Year’s Eve with her family around her, including her wayward son, David Wicks (Michael French).

And of her final scenes, Pam – who’s starred in the show for a quarter of a century – said, “The lead-up to the final hour is very powerful indeed – and I think that final hour is going to be fairly special, actually.”

She added, “It’s something quite brave for EastEnders. It’s intensive, it’s very concentrated, and sometimes we tend to concentrate on the big, the events, the things that happen, the big geography and the big emotions… Read more & comment »

EastEnders: Farewell Pat Evans! Plus 2012 teasers

As fans of EastEnders will know, Pat Evans (Pam St Clement) is about to shuffle off the mortal coil…

She’ll be off to meet her maker on New Year’s Day, and ahead of the “emotional” episode, the BBC have released a trailer which teases the heartache as Pat breathes her last.

You can see that after the jump, but, as with every cloud, there’s a silver lining, and in this plotline, that lining is in the form of the return of Pat’s son David Wicks, who’s played by the gorgeous Michael French.

As fans of EastEnders will know, poor old Pat Evans (Pam St Clement) is about to shuffle off the mortal coil, and today, the Daily Mirror have a sneak peek at her final moments.

Pam has of course starred in EastEnders since 1986, and has become famed for her character’s gaudy and largely hideous earrings, but alas, she’ll wear her last pair of dangly Christmas baubles as she breathes her last, surrounded by her family.

EastEnders star Nitin Ganatra praises “spectacular” B&B blaze scenes, and Pat Evans’ last kiss

EastEnders star Nitin Ganatra has told Inside Soap that the forthcoming scenes in which a fire decimates the B&B – and kills at least one person – are “spectacular”.

As fans of the show will know, Doctor Yusef Khan (Ace Bhatti) will die in the inferno, while Tamwar Masood (Himesh Patel) is to be left horribly disfigured by burns.

It’s also expected that Masood – who is of course Nitin’s character – and Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) will be injured in the fire, which is started deliberately.

EastEnders: Will the Jackson family be homeless in the New Year?!

As fans of EastEnders will know, big hearted Pat Evans (Pam St Clement) is the adopted matriarch of the Jackson family, given that Bianca Jackson’s kids all live in her house, as well as of course Bianca’s mum Carol (Lindsey Coulson).

And when Ricky Butcher (Sid Owen) comes back from Dubai soon, he too will once again take up residence with Pat, but as Digital Spy report, the entire family may find themselves homeless in the New Year!

The plotline begins when Ricky gets home next week to find Pat has bad news for him. She tells him that she took out a dodgy loan on the house, and as she hasn’t kept up the repayments, the loan company are about to sell the house and evict them all.

A desperate Pat is hoping that Ricky can bail them all out with the money he earned abroad, however, he has to confess that he lost it all, and is in fact more brassic than he was when he left! Read more & comment »

EastEnders Spoilers: Bianca Jackson will be home for Christmas, but Pat will die soon after

There’s happiness and sadness in equal parts ahead for the Jackson family when mum Bianca Jackson – who’s played by Patsy Palmer – gets out of prison just days before Christmas

But as to why she has a black eye, we’ll have to watch her return on December 22nd to find out!

However, soon after her joyous arrival on the Square, Pat Evans (Pam St Clement) will tell her family, including newly returned Ricky Butcher (Sid Owen) and David Wicks (Michael French) that she has terminal cancer.

The Daily Mail – who have the picture above in their online edition today, and the one after the jump of Pat’s funeral – state that Pat will die of a heart attack over the festive period.

EastEnders: Pat Evans’ gaudy earrings to go on sale!

As fans of EastEnders will know, Pat Evans – who’s played by Pam St Clement – won’t be in need of her huge array of tacky and gaudy earrings for much longer, given she’s off to the great Square in the sky at Christmas

So, EastEnders bosses have revealed that they’re going to auction off some of Pat’s earrings to raise money for an HIV charity.

The Sussex Beacon’s website also reveals that other EastEnders memorabilia will be auctioned, including an outfit worn by Tameka Empson who plays Kim Fox, as well as an iconic Albert Square sign that’s been autographed by the cast.

EastEnders: Pat Evans to get a proper Cockney funeral!

It’s been reported today that the cast of EastEnders have filmed Pat Evans’ funeral, and just like her ex-husband’s Frank Butcher’s funeral, it’s a full on traditional Cockney farewell…

Pat – who’s played by Pam St Clement – will die over Christmas in either the B&B fire, or of terminal cancer, or of a heart attack. The show’s bosses aren’t revealing which ending they have planned for the veteran character.

However, her funeral is going to be a big affair, with her coffin taken to a nearby cemetery in a horse drawn hearse, and all her friends and family in attendance.

And the Sun reports that Janine Malloy (Charlie Brooks) will foot the bill for the stylish send off, and will even feel genuinely bereaved by Pat’s passing. Read more & comment »

EastEnders: Pat Evans will die of a heart attack on New Year’s Eve!

It was reported this week that EastEnders bosses have filmed three alternate death scenes for iconic character Pat Evans, who’s played by Pam St Clement

Apparently, the three endings were that Pat would die in a fire, or die of cancer, or have a heart attack.

However, yesterday, the Daily Star reported that a show insider claims it’s the third option that will air; Pat will die of a massive heart attack.

The paper states that on New Year’s Eve, Pat will discover that she has terminal cancer, but as she’s surrounded by her friends and family – including Ricky Butcher, Bianca Jackson, and her sons, David and Simon Wicks – she’ll suddenly collapse when she has a massive heart attack.

In scenes which the insider described as, “the most moving” ever, Pat’s death will be one that’s sure to be a tearjerker. Read more & comment »
