Peter Andre to get Paul O’Grady’s chat show?

Peter Andre is reportedly in talks to take over from Paul O’Grady in Channel 4’s teatime slot next year.

Paul O’Grady is moving back to ITV and The Daily Star reports that Peter Andre has entered “advance talks” with Channel 4, about launching his own chat show in 2010.

Paul O’Grady says the death of Stephen Gately helped him move back to ITV

TV presenter Paul O’Grady said Stephen Gately’s death helped him decide to return to ITV.

O’Grady left the channel in 2006 but says an emotional phone call with Louis Walsh made him rethink his departure.

The Mirror reports O’Grady as saying:

“I’d known Stephen for years. It’s shocking that a young man of 33 with so much to live for should die like that, not even knowing that he had a congenital heart disease.

Paul O’Grady will return to ITV

Paul O’Grady will reportedly return to ITV after his current Channel 4 contract ends.

Paul has previously claimed that he couldn’t stay with Channel 4 due to extreme budget cuts, talks with Sky were also fruitless after Paul demanded too much money.

Paul is now rumoured to have signed an £8 million deal with ITV. The deal will see him launch a new Friday night chat show, going head to head with BBC’s Jonathan Ross show.

Paul demanded the extra money to pay for HD TV cameras in his studio, however Sky weren’t prepared to cough up the cash.

Paul O’Grady may leave Channel 4 over budget cuts

Paul O’Grady has threatened to leave Channel 4 if the budget for his chat show is drastically reduced.

Bosses are said to be planning to half his £2 million budget and O’Grady has told The Sunday Mirror that if they do, he will walk.

O’Grady said: “Cutting it by half is outrageous. You’re going to end up with the blandest of the bland and I won’t be part of it. I really want to carry on.

It seems that chat show host and comedian Paul O’Grady is going to be moving back to a tea-time slot on ITV, despite the fact that three years ago, he said he’d “rather sweep the streets” than work for ITV again.

However it seems that Channel 4 – who currently host his popular chat show – are planning to make massive budget cuts which Paul believes will damage the format of the show.

ITV have apparently told Paul that while they will cut his own pay, they will not reduce the budget for the actual show, which is around £2 million per year. Paul O’Grady has revealed that he may leave Channel 4 after his contract ends later this year.

Paul was recently on holiday with pal, Cilla Black when he began thinking seriously about the future of his chat show.

He told The Sun: “My contract with Channel 4 comes up at the end of this year. I’m not sure what will happen after that.

“Funnily enough, Cilla asked me what I’m going to do and I just don’t know.

Paul O’Grady Suffers Snake Bite

TV chatshow host, Paul O’Grady has been the victim of a snake bite in his home based in Kent.

O’Grady met with the adder after it slithered out of a pile of firewood, though at first he did not realise that he had been bitten.

He told the Mirror: “I didn’t realise I was bitten at first but I looked at my right arm and there was blood gushing down from it.

“I saw two puncture marks and I realised I had been bitten and it must have been a snake.

Paul O’Grady Was A Burglar!

Paul O’Grady has spilled the beans about his criminal past in his new autobiography.

The comedian – who was given an MBE at Buckingham Palace last week – admitted in the book that he’d carried out burglaries in his youth and that he’d experimented with drugs.

In his book, Paul O’Grady: At My Mother’s Knee… And Other Low Joints, Paul wrote, “In one heist we chose not to take anything except an oil painting of a ship and an old pirate’s pistol.

ITV2 has commissioned a special episode of Ghost Hunting With…Paul O’Grady and Friends.

The show is brand new for 2008 and will see Paul O’Grady return to ITV, accompanied by a group of fellow Liverpudlians – Natasha Hamilton from Atomic Kitten, plus Jennifer Ellision and Phil Olivier of former Brookside fame.

The team will travel with Yvette Fielding to three separate locations in Sicily – the Teatro Massimo theatre, an eleventh Century castle in Carini and the Capuchin Catacombs, below a sixteenth Century monastery. Read more & comment »
