We reported last year that Emmerdale producer Stuart Blackburn was taking over from Phil Collinson at Coronation Street in the New Year, and many members of the cast feared that their characters could be axed when Blackburn took control…
And it seems they had every right to be worried as today it’s been revealed that actor Peter Gunn, who plays Brian Packham, has indeed been axed from the show.
Peter, who’s played the role of head teacher Brian – who is of course Julie Carp’s (Katy Cavanagh) lover – since 2010, is expected to leave the show later this year, though it’s not known as yet how he’ll be written out. Read more & comment »

Whilst we all wait for Lloyd Mullaney to reappear on our Coronation Street screens, more details of his explosive return is being leaked.
We reported last month that Craig Charles, who plays the unlucky-in-love cab firm owner, was set to return after an extended break and cause havoc by opening a new rival cab firm in competition with his ex business partner, and best friend, Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson), and today pictures have leaked showing what looks like the pair involved in a chase, at Bessie Street school sports day!

One of Corrie’s hottest couples – well, ok, not ‘hottest’ perhaps; more ‘pedestrian’ – Brian Packham and Julie Carp have some great storylines coming up, including making an enemy of feisty mum Kylie Platt, and becoming parents themselves!
Starting with the fracas Brian (Peter Gunn) is about to have with Kylie (Paula Lane), it all begins when the harassed Headmaster tries to enforce the school’s new healthy eating policy by banning junk food during school hours.
However, determined that she won’t be told what to feed her child, Kylie turns up at the school loaded with chips for the kids to share in the playground. And when Brian tries to confiscate the fried goodies, he ends up on his back, with not only a chip on his shoulder, but chips pretty much everywhere else too.

Over Halloween, Julie Carp and Brian Packham are set to go off UFO hunting, having spotted strange lights over Weatherfield.
However, having got wind of their plan, Tyrone Dobbs and Tommy Duckworth – who are played by Alan Halsall and Chris Fountain – decide to play a prank on the lovers.
So when Julie (Katy Cavanagh) and Brian (Peter Gunn) settle themselves in the great outdoors with a picnic rug and flasks of tea, they’re expecting a long night waiting for aliens to appear.

Corrie star Katy Cavanagh has revealed that she has her heart set on a big soap wedding for her Street character, Julie Carp.
As fans of the show may know, Julie is about to move in with boyfriend Brian Packham (Peter Gunn) but Katy’s ambition for Julie and Brian’s relationship doesn’t end there.
