In the first few minutes, I thought this show was going to be… well, I can’t utilise handy swear words – what with this being a family site and all – so I’ll put something that rhymes with what I was thinking; absolute ‘trucking plight’.

Phillip Schofield was presiding and let’s face it, he’s the thinking woman’s totty is our Phil, so I was already sold there, but as he introduced the rules and ‘The Cube’, I thought the whole thing was the rather sad lovechild of Crystal Maze and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. And there was a little nod to Top Gear thrown in for good measure in the form of the anonymous ‘Body’ who demonstrates the games in a Stig-like outfit, complete with concealing mask.

So, prepared to be bored witless, it was with some surprise that within minutes, and by the time the first ever contestant, Dean, got to playing for £20,000, my underwear was making it’s way to a place where the sun don’t shine and I was yelling at my telly while groaning when Dean lost a life, of which he had nine by the way. Phillip Schofield has admitted that he may shed a few tears when Fern Britton leaves This Morning.

When What’s On TV asked Phillip if he would cry on her departure he replied: “Yeah definitely. I mean, it will be a big moment for all of us and you know Fern has been there for ten years now so she’s very much looking forward to a bit of time off, but of course I will miss her.”

Schofield refused to name his favourite in the battle for Fern’s replacement, saying: “It’s too early for that yet.”

The rumour mill is in overdrive this week regarding the future host of ITV’s This Morning. The latest hat to be thrown in the ring is that of Xtra Factor presenter, Holly Willoughby.

It may help that Holly has the backing of current co-host Phillip Schofield, after the pair formed a formidable partnership on ITV evening entertainment show, Dancing On Ice.

Fern Britton has added more fuel to the rumours that she there is a rift developing between her and Phillip Schofield, by quitting the ITV Soap Awards.

Fern announced her decision to quit ITV’s This Morning this week and immediately people began speculating that Fern was leaving due to jealousy over Phillips TV success and huge wages. She has denied the rumours but has now announced that she won’t be presenting the Soap Awards with Schofield either.

We earlier revealed that Fern Britton has quit This Morning but rumours have now emerged that she made that decision based on some awkwardness around Phillip Schofield.

Fern has presented This Morning for ten years, Phillip for seven. The two have helped the show grow from strength to strength, however outside the première daytime TV show Phillip’s career has grown massively whilst Fern’s seems to have slightly stagnated.

A source told Heat:

“I know it has been a big source of irritation to her that Phil has become the big prime time star and she hasn’t, and he is on a lot more money than her”

After 10 years of fronting the show, Fern Britton has quit This Morning!

Britton will present the current series up until its end this July and then leave to spend more time with her family and pursue other projects.

She thanked her This Morning viewers for their “kindness and loyalty” over the years.

Britton said: “After 10 years with This Morning, I have decided to leave the show at the end of the current series. I will present my last show on 17 July, my birthday, which seems somehow appropriate.

Fern Britton and Phillip Schofield are all lined up for a new series of ITV’s All Star Mr & Mrs, but what Britton doesn’t know is that Schofield is earning three times more than her.

Schofield will earn £45,000 per episode of the show whilst Britton is receiving £15,000.

Phillip, 46, is said to be paid more as he has a two-year deal with ITV after signing a £2million exclusive contract in September, Fern only has a exclusive daytime contract which means she can’t command as high a wage.

Phillip Schofield announced via Twitter today that he had been snowed in and was unable to make it in to the This Morning studios.

At one point it looked unlikely that the show would even air at all as fellow presenter, Fern Britton had problems getting to work and it seemed like only six crew members would be able to get there on time.

In the end though, Fern made it in and the show continued including some contact with Phillip via the phone.

Kerry Katona has hit out at This Morning presenter, Phillip Schofield branding him as “ignorant and arrogant” and accusing him of discriminating against her.

Kerry slurred her way through an interview with Phillip and Fern on This Morning this week, prompting people to claim that she was either drunk or on drugs. But Katona blames the slurring on her Bipolar medication and claims that Schofield did not take her condition into account during her appearance.

“He was out of order. Saying I was drunk is ignorant and arrogant,” Katona told The People. “Why didn’t Schofield ask me about my condition on air and help explain my slurring was due to my illness and medication? I think this is all very wrong. I would take action against him – but I want to see what happens first.”

Phillip Schofield has reportedly signed a £1.65 million deal with ITV according to The News Of The World. He will stay on with the channel to present daytime chat show, This Morning and ice skating show, Dancing On Ice.

A source told the newspaper: “Phillip’s hit gold. He’s one of the best loved and busiest guys in the business, and that’s reflected in what ITV are prepared to pay him.

“The bosses know he’s the housewives’ favourite and would hate to see him defect.”

Phillip Schofield just admitted to a crush on supermodel Agyness Deyn live on ITV1’s This Morning. Phillip was discussing an upcoming fashion item with co-host Fern Britton on the show which comments on the new trend for leopard print leggings, as recently worn by Agy. As 2 pictures flashed up on screen Fern commented:

Fern: “Have a look at Agyness Deyn and Mischa Barton. They’ve been snapped in spots and looking, you know….”

Phillip: “Gorgeous”

Fern: “You love Agyness.”

Phillip Schofield has confirmed that he will still present the British Soap Awards despite his father passing away on Thursday.

Phillip took compassionate leave from This Morning earlier this week when his father, who was suffering from heart disease, took a turn for the worse. His father passed away.

“It has been the longest, toughest, saddest week of our lives, made more heartbreaking because we are such a close family,” Schofield told The Sun. Read more & comment »

TV presenter, Phillip Schofield has take compassionate leave from ITV chat show, This Morning, so that he can spend time with his ill dad.

Phillip will be replaced by Torchwood star, John Barrowman for the rest of this week.

Next week Phillip will be co-hosting The British Soap Awards with Fern Britton.
