Chris Moyles is rumoured to be considering quitting his Radio 1 brwakfast show after finding out the BBC were secretly planning to axe him in the near future.

Friends have told The Mirror that Chris was “totally shellshocked” when hearing about the planned station reshuffle.

A close friend said: “Chris is considering his options. He is due to meet with Radio 1 bosses in a few weeks because his contract is coming up for renewal in July.

BBC Radio 1 announces today an overhaul of both the daytime and evening schedules.

The new schedule will come into effect on Friday 12 October 2007 with the following changes:

The Chris Moyles Show will be extended by an extra half an hour with a new start time of 6.30am from Monday 15 October

Sunday evenings, 7pm to midnight, becomes the teen zone – new show hosted by Annie Mac; Kelly Osbourne the new host of Radio 1’s Surgery

Fearne Cotton and Reggie Yates will host Radio 1’s Chart Show plus a new audience request show

Friday and Saturday evenings become “the best club flyer in the world” dedicated to dance music genres (Fridays) and black music genres (Saturdays)
