It’s been reported today that Crimewatch star Rav Wilding faced certain death after he plunged into a crevasse in the Arctic Circle, and was only saved by the quick thinking of fellow competitor Brooke Kinsella.

The Sun reports that the drama began when Rav slipped and could have fallen 30ft had Brooke and fellow former EastEnders Martin Kemp not grabbed hold of him and dragged him to safety.

All three were of course filming for ITV show, 71 Degrees North, and Martin told This Morning viewers, “He [Rav] was lying on his back, and there was me and Brooke Kinsella…

“So we are pulling Rav out of this hole that goes down like 20, 30 feet.”

Rav Wilding is reportedly ‘devastated’ over his breakup from former Celebrity Big Brother star Chantelle Houghton.

The Crimewatch presenter is thought to have told pals that he feels the blonde beauty used him for publicity, when he was sure at the time their relationship was genuine.

It was earlier reported that Rav was asked to take a leave of absence from the BBC, as they were upset by his recent behaviour. However friends now claim he asked for the time off, so he can recover from his love troubles.
