As fans of Coronation Street will know, when Rita Sullivan marries Dennis Tanner on Monday 4th June, as is obligatory for a soapy wedding, things will run far from smoothly…
With the biggest bridal drama being the fact that evil Rick Whelan (Greg Wood) holds Rita hostage in order to force Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan) to hand over his stash of cocaine.
You can read more about that here, but in the meantime, Barbara Knox, who of course plays bride-to-be Rita has been talking to the show’s official website about playing The Kabin owner, and of her finally being united with Dennis – who’s played by Phillip Lowrie – who Rita first had a relationship with back in the sixties.

Roxy Mitchell is about to embark on an affair with affable pub landlord Alfie Moon, and he is just the latest in a long string of men that Roxy has unadvisedly had a romance with…
She of course had a fling with Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) who later married her sister Ronnie, then she had a rather tempestuous romance with Michael Moon (Steve John Shepherd), and then, she tried it on with Max Branning (Jake Wood) so she’s clearly of the opinion that keeping it in the family is the way forward.
However, as Alfie (Shane Richie) is married to the formidable Kat (Jessie Wallace) Roxy could find herself sans teeth if ever her affair with Alfie becomes public knowledge.
But Rita Simons who of course plays Roxy, reckons that her character isn’t looking to break Kat and Alfie up, or at least, that’s not her intention right now… Read more & comment »
April 10th, 2012 by TV Writer Lynn. Tags: Alfie Moon, Derek Branning, Eastenders, Jamie Foreman, Rita Simons, Roxy Mitchell, Shane Richie

As fans of EastEnders will know, Roxy Mitchell (Rita Simons) is developing quite a crush on Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) – who she very annoyingly calls ‘granddad’ – and next week, her BFF Christian Clarke (John Partridge) is set to find out about it.
However, so is wicked Derek Branning (Jamie Foreman) who of course can’t stand “gobby” Roxy, so he decides to have some fun at her expense over Alfie…
It all begins when Alfie leaps to Roxy’s defence after she gets into a row in the pub, which leaves Roxy delighted at her “Knight in shining armour”.
Both Christian and Derek immediately see what’s going on, and while Christian decides to talk to Roxy about it – and advise her to tell Alfie how she feels – Derek cooks up a plan to send Alfie away on a mystery “job.” Read more & comment »
March 27th, 2012 by TV Writer Lynn. Tags: Alfie Moon, Eastenders, Rita Simons, Roxy Mitchell, Shane Richie

Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) has always been rather like a Labrador; faithful, non-demanding and ever loyal, however, that’s all about to change…
Roxy Michell (Rita Simons) has of course been rather desperate for some male company of late, and especially so since Max Branning (Jake Wood) spurned her advances.
Prior to that, Roxy had a one night stand with Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) and a turbulent relationship with Michael Moon (Steve John Shepherd) however he’s now playing happy families with Janine Malloy (Charlie Brooks).
As to Alfie, well, it seems that old adage about while the cat’s away – the Kat in this instance being of the Moon variety – his mouse is quite open to a play, and it becomes apparent just how open when Roxy turns up in tears at the Vic… Read more & comment »

Rita Simons, who of course plays Roxy Mitchell in EastEnders, has been telling the Daily Mirror that she “hates” having to play out kissing scenes with her co-star Scott Maslen as he’s “like a brother” to her.
Scott plays Jack Branning, with whom Roxy recently shared a one night stand, but Roxy is set to lock lips with Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) in forthcoming episodes, so perhaps Jack and Roxy’s on-off relationship will take a back seat!
But of kissing Scott, Rita explained, “Scott’s like my big brother and I absolutely freak out every time I have to kiss him.
“The director says ‘action!’ and we kiss and then when he says ‘cut!’ we both hit and punch each other and he pushes me off him and I push him off me… Read more & comment »

Gasp! The – formerly, apparently – faithful hound that is Alfie Moon is about to be unfaithful to Kat with Roxy Mitchell!
As fans of the show will know, Kat – who’s played by Jessie Wallace – is currently away from Walford and looking after her dad Charlie, who’s suffered a stroke.
The character of Kat was temporarily written out in order to give an “exhausted” Jessie a three-month break from work.
So, with Kat away, Alfie (Shane Richie) is about to become the proverbial mouse who plays with Roxy (Rita Simons) who become more than just friends after they share several heart to hearts about their troubled love lives.
A show insider told the Daily Mirror that at one point in the developing storyline, Roxy will move in with Alfie above the pub, and it seems the show’s writers are considering having Kat return unexpectedly to find Alfie and Roxy in bed together… Read more & comment »
