Coronation Street star Marc Baylis has revealed that his character, Rob Donovan, is about to be given a second chance at working at the factory by his sister Carla, however, as Rob sees himself in a position that’s somewhat higher than being Carla’s whipping boy, whether he’ll accept, or continue trying to ruin Carla’s business, remains to be seen.
As fans will recall, Rob cooked the books at the factory in order to have a broker assess the worth of the business at far less than its real market value, and he then nicked one of Carla’s (Alison King) clients, taking a hefty order from her in the process.
During an interview with Soaplife about the storyline, Marc began by explaining how his character felt when Carla turned up in Weatherfield again after originally leaving to live in America.
He said, “Carla’s arrival [was] a shock more than anything because only a couple of weeks previously she announced she was leaving Weatherfield again for good.” Read more & comment »

Steve (Simon Gregson) is of course dating Michelle Connor (Kym Lomas) and Eva (Catherine Tyldesley) is about to be reunited with Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) and though she’s lost a lover before to jealous suspicion – that lover being Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) who ditched Eva after she wrongly accused him of cheating on her – Eva’s evidently not learned any lessons.
That becomes apparent when Michelle and Rob head off on a business trip together, and when Steve and Eva get talking about it, they suspect that the pair are in fact having a dirty weekend away together.

Since he returned to Weatherfield, having been booted out of uni, Ryan Connor (Sol Heras) has become the latter day Terry Duckworth – who, like Ryan, was a tear away when he was young, not that time has improved him much as we saw when he came back – in as much as he’s lazy, scheming and will lie a million times before he tells the truth.
However, unlike Terry, Ryan’s a junkie, and a forthcoming storyline will see the repercussions of his desperation for a fix rocking his family.
It all begins when Ryan goes to Underworld with the intention of robbing a few quid from the petty cash box.
Once he’s inside the factory, with his face shielded by a hood, he finds the cash box and proceeds to try to open it, however, his uncle Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) sees who he assumes is a stranger trying to steal the money, so he goes up behind him and smacks him over the head… Read more & comment »

July 7th, 2012 by TV Writer Lynn. Tags: Coronation Street, Marc Baylis, rob donovan

Coronation Street newcomer Marc Baylis – who is to make his debut on the Street next week – had a very special reason for going after the role of Carla Connor’s brother Rob Donovan, and that was because he’d promised his granny he would.
Aww.
Speaking to the Sun’s TV Biz, Marc said, “I told my nan about a year ago that I would get a part in Corrie.
“I asked her what show she would most like to see me in and she said Coronation Street. So I said I would try my best.
“It was a whimsical promise and I never expected it to be a part like this one.
“If I’d got a small scene walking into the Rovers or down the street, she would still have been happy. But obviously that conversation sowed the seeds… Read more & comment »

So far, only Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley) has had any suspicions about the pair, but not wanting to upset her mum Stella, who is of course Karl’s girlfriend, she’s kept her concerns to herself so far.
However, when Karl (John Michie) and Sunita (Shobna Gulati) revisit their passion and share a kiss in the back room of the Rovers, Stella (Michelle Collins) walks in and catches them at it.
I cannot wait to see the fall out from that!

He’s played by actor Marc Baylis, whose former TV credits include starring in My Uncle Silas, Sirens, The Bill, EastEnders, Doctors and Hollyoaks, and according to Catherine Tyldesley who plays Eva Price, her character and Rob are set to get “steamy” when an instant spark of chemistry ignites between them.
Of Rob – who we’ll see for the first time on July 9th – and Eva’s romance, Catherine said, “I don’t want to give away too much, but Rob is going to be the fresh meat on the Street.
“Eva is certainly attracted to him because he does have charm and power… Read more & comment »
