After we reported earlier this week that Doctor Who mastermind, Steven Moffat, has ruled out a return for Amy Pond and Rory Williams, the actor who plays Rory, Arthur Darvil, has revealed how different working on the hit BBC sci-fi family entertainment show to any other job you could have.
Arthur Darvil became a household name when acting alongside Karen Gillan as Rory Williams and his wife Amy Pond, the previous companions of the current Doctor Who (Matt Smith).

It would seem that Doctor Who writer, Steven Moffat, has no plans to bring back show favourites Amy Pond and her husband Rory Williams.
With the 50th anniversary plans well underway for later this year, there were many a rumour floating around at who may make a comeback to help the Doctor celebrate this momentous land-mark occasion, with Rory (Arthur Darvil) and Amy (Karen Gillan) looking like dead certs.

Doctor Who head honcho, Steven Moffat has ruled any possibility of show favourite, Amy Pond making a return to the show.
Fans of the show will know how Amy, and her onscreen husband, Rory (Arthur Darvil), were written out of the hugely successful BBC sci-fi show earlier this year, with former Emmerdale actress, Jenna-Louise Coleman stepping in to replace Amy, played by Karen Gillan, as the Time lord, Matt Smith’s, new side kick.

As fans of Doctor Who will doubtless know, this weekend’s episode, The Angels Take Manhattan, will see the exit of popular sidekicks Amy Pond and Rory Williams, who are of course played by Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill…
And today, Arthur has revealed that starring in the show as Rory has been, “the best job I’ve ever had.”
However, he also revealed to TV Choice magazine that leaving the show was also one of the hardest things he’s ever had to do.
He said, “There were lots of people crying at the read-through. It was great because it does mean so much to all of us, and I think that’s right.
“I don’t think we were being over-emotional about it, it’s a really emotional script. I can’t really speak for anyone else but I’m so proud of what we’ve done on this show…

In the build up to the new series of Doctor Who, the Daily Star newspaper has revealed that the explosive finale episode of the new run is due to take place using one of the most famous landmarks in the world as a weapon, the Statue Of Liberty!
According to the publication, the legendary New York statue is to be turned into a deadly Weeping Angel when the series comes to an end this autumn.

Doctor Who stars Arthur Darvill and Karen Gillan – who of course play the roles of the Time Lord’s sidekicks Rory Williams and Amy Pond respectively – have now filmed their final scenes in the show, which will of course air during series seven, which is set to premiere next month on the BBC.
Of their last scenes, which both agreed were “very sad” to film, Arthur told TV Biz, “The last scene we shot was inside the Tardis with all three of us.
“We were then in darkness and we had a big group hug.”
However, trying to make light of the clearly very emotional moment, Matt Smith, who plays the Doctor, said, “We had a hug and Karen fondled me. I called her Fondling Bottom Gillan.”
Laughing, Arthur continued on a more serious note, saying, “All those feelings kept inside for so long just suddenly came out…” Read more & comment »

As Britain sheds a tear over the exit of Karen Gillan from Doctor Who this year, it seems as though she is missing the show as much as it is missing her.
Gillan – who is set to leave her role as the Doctor’s sidekick, Amy Pond , along with her on-screen husband Rory Williams, played by Arthur Darvil in what show writer, Steven Moffat has described as a truly heartbreaking exit, during the fifth episode of series seven of the iconic BBC sci-fi drama – was out and about for the night at the Scottish Fashion Awards, where she spoke to stv.tv about leaving her role.

Jenna-Louise Coleman, the actress who played murdering lesbian Jasmine Thomas in ITV’s Emmerdale, may have had her new Doctor Who character named as Clara!
According to fans of the iconic sci-fi show, they have heard Coleman’s character referred to as ‘Clara’ on the set of the new series, which is currently being filmed.

As fans of Doctor Who will of course know, the characters of Amy Pond and Rory Williams – who’re played by Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill respectively – are being written out in the forthcoming new series…
And a picture from today’s Daily Mirror (above) may have captured what could be their last kiss.
There’s also a hint that River Song (Alex Kingston) could be back in the new series, but more on that in a moment.
To return to the kiss, the Doctor (Matt Smith) doesn’t look like he approves too much does he? But of course, we won’t know what the frown’s all about until we see the actual episode in the autumn.
However, the show’s writer, Stephen Moffat, hasn’t ruled out the possibility that Amy might die, branding her departure “heartbreaking”. Nor has Karen, who recently said of the prospect of Amy’s demise, “It could be possible…” Read more & comment »

Virgin Media report today that Doctor Who characters Amy Pond and Rory Williams will be seen for the last time in New York, where they and the Doctor are set to face an epic battle with villains the Weeping Angels.
The show’s executive producer, Caroline Skinner, made the revelation while attending the Doctor Who Convention in Cardiff, where both Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill – who of course play Amy and Rory – also joined the panel to talk about their characters’ departures.
Doctor Who writer Steven Moffat and star Matt Smith were also in attendance.
Talking about his exit from the show, Arthur told the media, ”We’ve had the most incredible time and it will be really sad when we leave.
“We had the read through for our final episode last night and it is going to be an amazing piece of television…” Read more & comment »
