As it’s been revealed that officers working on Operation Yewtree – the inquiry that was established in the wake of a raft of sex abuse allegations made against Jimmy Savile – are set to arrest and question “very high profile figures”, comedian Russell Brand has reportedly claimed, “two of the UK’s most-loved stars” are paedophiles.

Of what Brand allegedly said, the Daily Star reports that he made his remarks during filming of his show, Brand X, which is recorded in front of a live studio audience in London but aired in America.

The self confessed ladies man got divorced from US singer Katy Perry last summer and she’s already moved on and is reportedly considering getting her own love nest with new beau John Mayer.

If there’s something BBC3 always do well it’s their documentaries, which often focus on fairly controversial topics as well occasionally featuring a celebrity subject. This week’s documentary has both of those elements as Russell Brand looks at drug addiction and alcoholism, primarily using his own personal experiences as well as explaining what he thinks can be done to get more people off drugs. I think Brand is a fairly polarising figure, and while I appreciate that a great majority think he’s absolutely hilarious, I’ve never warmed to him either as a comic, presenter or actor but at the same time, due to his drug addict past, I feel he’s the ideal choice to front this programme. In addition, his close friendship with Amy Winehouse adds a certain amount of emotional resonance as Brand also voices his regrets about not doing more to help her before she died. The British comedian, who famously played pranks on Sachs with regards to his granddaughter with radio co-host Jonathan Ross, made Chat Show host, Graham Norton, incredibly uncomfortable when he used an appearance on his show, The Graham Norton Show, to have a go at the Irish cheeky chappy for making his mum cry!

It’s been reported in The Sun today that comedian Russell Brand is set to tell all about his battle with drug addiction to the Home Affairs Select Committee next Tuesday during an inquiry into current drugs policies.

Russell will apparently give his side of the story along with detox centre manager Chip Somers, who will recount how his facility helped Russell ditch his heroin addiction.

The paper’s article states, “Committee chair Keith Vaz said the 36-year-old star would be questioned about his own experiences and his latest project — a documentary about drug addiction.”

He said, “Hearing from those affected by drugs use is essential. I welcome Russell Brand’s openness about his addiction and recovery.

“I hope that his experiences will help us understand the nature of addiction and the impact it has on addicts and those around them.”

Earlier this week, troubled comedian Russell Brand landed himself in some hot water with the police when he threw a mobile phone through the window of a law firm in New Orleans.

The incident occurred after Russell apparently became enraged with a press photographer, Timothy Jackson, who had been following him. Brand allegedly reached into the snapper’s car and grabbed the man’s phone.

He then launched it through a window. And as mentioned – and rather ironically – it was a window belonging to a law firm.

A warrant was issued for his arrest later that day, but before he could be arrested, Brand handed himself into police, and after questioning, he was released on a bail of £3,000 pending further investigations… Read more & comment »

Sky Atlantic have today announced the acquisition of the exclusive UK Pay-Tv rights to Strangely Uplifting, a new topical show presented by acclaimed actor and comedian, Russell Brand, from FX Productions.

The six part series will feature Brand’s unfiltered take on current events, politics and popular culture. Unscripted, Strangely Uplifting will be shot in front of a live audience who will feature heavily in the show.

William Hill have cut the odds of Katy Perry and Russell Brand being the first Celeb couple to split following news that the pair spent Christmas apart. Having previously been the 6/5 favourites to be the first unlucky in love couple, the odds are now 10/11. Shane Warne and Liz Hurley are the 4/1 second favourites with Alex Reid and Chantelle 5/1.

“Christmas just wouldn’t be Christmas without a blazing row, but given the amount of interest that we have seen on the pair splitting, we think there may well be a little more to this than meets the eye,” said Hill’s spokesman Joe Crilly.

Once again, comedian Russell Brand has discovered that your past tends to have a way of catching up with you after he was denied entry into Canada on Saturday.

He was also turned away from Japan two months ago, which was allegedly because of his “criminal history”.

Russell Brand has been voted the world’s sexiest male vegetarian by animal charity PETA supporters.

The Daily Star reports that Russell was awarded the gong as part of PETA’s vote for ‘hot veggie’ celebrities.

New York comedy actress Kristen Wiig, 37, was voted as the fittest female.

Katy Perry has reportedly had a showdown with her famous hubby Russell Brand, after he was snapped holding hands with another woman.

An insider told heat magazine that the “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” hitmaker was furious with her husband after seeing pictures taken in Miami, where he is currently filming ‘Rock Of Ages’ with co-stars Diego Boneta and Julianne Hough.

“Katy’s feeling pretty humiliated and betrayed by the photo and how Russell’s been acting recently,” a source told the publication.

Helen Mirren thinks Russell Brand is “intimidating”.

Although the actress is now good friends with her ‘Arthur’ co-star she admits she was full of “terrible trepidation” about shooting the film because she had worked with him before and had not gotten to know him properly.

In an interview with Stylist magazine, she said: “I kind of jumped, but with terrible trepidation. Mostly because it was Russell! We had worked on ‘The Tempest’ together but never really spent time together until this. Russell is quite an intimidating person.”

Russell Brand has reportedly agreed to a warts and all interview on ‘Piers Morgan’s Life Stories’.

The TV funnyman – who recently married Katy Perry in a ceremony in India – will appear on the ITV1 chat show when it returns to screens later this spring, but is reportedly determined not to be like Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole and break down in tears when questioned about his life.

Russell Brand was forced to miss last night’s British Comedy Awards ceremony, because his friend was seriously ill.

The newlywed comedian was due to pick up the Outstanding Contribution to Comedy honour at London’s The O2 but stayed in New York to be with close pal Martino Sclavi, who is said to be in a critical condition after having a brain tumour removed earlier this week.

In a video acceptance speech, Russell said: “I’m really sorry I couldn’t be there. One of my friends is really ill and I couldn’t travel.”
