The BBC Director General has issued a statement, apologising profusely for the recent prank calls of Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross and revealing that the pair will be suspended until a full review of the incident is carried out.
The announcement was made by the BBC director general Mark Thompson, and follows an astounding 18,000 complaints over the pair’s actions.
In addition, Conservative shadow culture secretary Mr Hunt had this to say: “We still don’t know who gave permission for that broadcast to go out. It looks like it broke the broadcasting code about not doing things that are offensive and not doing things that breach people’s privacy.”
The BBC have issued an official apology after receiving more than 10,000 complaints and Gordon Brown has blasted the pair, but now listen to the answerphone messages that have landed Russell Brand and Jonathan Ross in such hot water.
So what do you think? Did Russell and Jonathan take their prankish behaviour a little too far or are parliament making a big thing out of nothing….leave your comments below!

Russell may have offended many ‘patriots’ last night (Britney and Miley Cyrus included!), but during his opening of the MTV Music Video Awards I thought he was bloody hilarious.
In his true tactless style Russell waffled:
“Some people, I think they’re called racists, say America is not ready for a black president,” he said. “But I know America to be a forward-thinking country because otherwise why would you have let that retard and cowboy fella be president for eight years? We were very impressed. We thought it was nice of you to let him have a go, because, in England, he wouldn’t be trusted with a pair of scissors.”
Russell Brand is trying to forge a successful acting career for himself in America, and what better way to do that than to appear on a chat show watched by millions and offer to pee on Eva Longoria.
Judging from Eva’s bosy language it looks like she is trying to pretend that Russell isn’t even in the room!

Russell Brand is said to be busy making a new show for Channel 4 with Princess Eugenie.
The show is said to be along the lines of ‘Upstairs Downstairs’, where Russell and the Princess will examine pastimes that are often classed as upper or lower class.
“Russell and Eugenie are set to front a new Upstairs, Downstairs programme,” an insider told the Daily Star.
“Each episode will see them experience activities or places that are perceived as either high or low culture, but it’s going to be quite fun. For example, Eugenie can take Russ to the polo and he can take her to the dogs. It won’t be any kind of social indictment, just a proper giggle.”

TV comedian Russell Brand has spoken out today about the cast of his upcoming autobiographical movie, My Booky Wook.
In an interview with The Mirror, Russell revealed that at first he wanted Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe to play him, but then realised:
“I thought he wouldn’t be able to take all the drink. Or the drugs or fraternising with women. So I thought I should do it.”
Oasis star, Noel Gallagher is reportedly in talks to play a “seedy homosexual”.
Brand said: “[Noel] will be a sexually androgynous, amorphous character – it’ll be mad. I was speaking to him about it yesterday, and hopefully it’ll be great.”
