Jonathan Ross has admitted that a prior family commitment forced him to turn down an invitation to the wedding of Russell Brand and Katy Perry.
The controversial comedians have become close friends since the ‘Sachsgate’ incident threatened to ruin their careers in 2008 – so it was only natural that Brand invited his mentor to his nuptial ceremony in India in 2010. Unfortunately Jonathan’s eldest daughter was starting university at the same time, so he didn’t make the event
Russell Brand has admitted that he is already “under the thumb” of his new wife Katy Perry.
The TV funnyman only got married in India last month but already his new bride has started telling him to wear.
In his first TV interview since tying the knot, he told ITV show ‘Loose Women’: “The other day, I put a shirt on and she went, ‘You’re not wearing that shirt are you?’ I thought, ‘That’s actually happening? That’s a thing off a sitcom.’ That happened in my actual life. I wasn’t allowed to wear it.”
Comedian and presenter, Russell Brand, claims that the uproar following “Sachsgate” was blown up out of all proportion.
Brand, along with his radio show co-host Jonathan Ross, enraged the public and media when he and Ross left “inappropriate” messages on actor Andrew Sachs answering machine as part of an on-air ‘prank’.
Speaking to the Radio Times about the incident, he said of the uproar it caused, “It’s like you knock over a glass of water at your neighbour’s house, and the wife comes down and shoots the dog.”
He went on to say, “As often is the case with comedy, at a junction, I always take the road less travelled.
According to the Daily Miror today, Jonathan Ross will be interviewing Russell Brand on his chat show to “discuss the Andrew Sachs scandal that nearly ended both their careers.”
The paper states that the pair will answer to criticism of the affair – in which Ross and Brand left offensive messages on Sach’s answer phone – as well as relating events since, such as Ross’s suspension from the BBC last year. Read more & comment »
Russell Brand and Katy Perry have only just gotten engaged and are reportedly already planning their wedding.
A source close to the couple told The Sun: “Russell caught everyone off-guard with the engagement. They’ve decided they won’t be messing about and have already made a start on the plans for the big day.”
Channel 4 have commissioned The Road to Russell Brand: Skinned, an intimate and revealing documentary combining behind the scenes footage and stand up performance with an in-depth interview conducted by Frank Skinner.
In early 2009 Russell completed an international tour that featured dates in New York and Australia as well as a number of shows in the UK. The tour culminated with a sell out 17,000 people gig at the O2. During this period cameras were following Russell back stage and travelling.
