Echo’s stint as a midwife doesn’t prove as laborious as when she becomes an expert safecracker, and more than an invaluable piece of art is stolen from her on the engagement, forcing Sierra to take on a familiar persona.
Dollhouse lead actress Eliza Dushku has claimed that she made Joss Whedon write the Sci-Fi show.
Eliza said that she invited Joss Whedon to lunch and convinced him to write a show for her to star in.
“I made him come to lunch with me for four hours and I told him that he had to write me a show, not just a show, but the best show that he’s ever written and that that it had to be done and he accepted,” she said.
They’re ‘underground’, sexy and highly illegal. They’re psychological shape-shifters who can assume any persona – be it lover, assassin, corporate schemer, hostage negotiator or best friend. And they’re hired by the wealthy, powerful and well connected to do their (often highly warped) bidding. They’re the ‘Actives’, elite lead characters of Dollhouse, the series that poses the intriguing question: ‘Who do you want me to be?’ It’s the eagerly anticipated US smash-hit – and if that weren’t reason enough to make it essential viewing, here are two more: it’s the brainchild of Joss Whedon, creator of seminal cult favourites Buffy, The Vampire Slayer, Angel and Firefly, and it reunites him with fellow Buffy and Angel alumna, dark-haired stunner (and Maxim covergirl) Eliza Dushku, in the dynamic lead role. (She’s also a co-producer of the series. Is there no end to the girl’s talents?)
Last night’s premiere of brand new Knight Rider has delivered its SCI FI channel’s best series ratings since the first run of Heroes in 2007. Over half a million viewers tuned in for the high-octane, feature-length pilot, which guest-starred David Hasselhoff.
SCI FI also enjoyed a steep uplift amongst young adults, with 33% of viewers aged 16 – 34, up nearly 60% on the channel’s average. Surprisingly, women aged 16 – 24 outnumbered their male counterparts in the same age group by 6 share points, proving that cars aren’t just for the boys.
There’s now a brand new clip available, featuring an interview with star Jason Breuning about the new series, and just what makes the new KITT so awesome. Watch the clip over the jump
Remember K.I.T.T.? – a.k.a. the Knight Industries Three Thousand, and simply the coolest crime-fighting car ever created? Well, it’s back in this high-octane, zappy sequel to the iconic ‘80s original. And, OK, this time things are a little different. It might not have The Hoff at the wheel (although he does make a cameo in the pilot episode) and it’s a 2008 Ford Shelby Mustang rather than a TransAm Pontiac, but now K.I.T.T.’s an even bigger beast in the fight against crime – and it’s got a new ‘voice’: superstar VAL KILMER!
Will Smith is all set to produce a new show for Sci Fi titled ‘Unfinished Business.’
The series is about an ex-cop who starts seeing flashes of memories from the recently deceased. The visions help him to resolve their unfinished business.
The network (I refuse to call them SyFy until the changeover takes place this July!) plans to air “Unfinished Business” as a two-hour movie that will also serve as a potential series pilot.
The Sci Fi Channel has acquired the rights to two of the biggest shows to emerge from America in the last year, Dollhouse and Knight Rider. Both programmes will be part of the channel’s UK digital spring programming line-up.
I know that personally I have been gagging to have a look at Joss Whedon’s latest offering which centres round a young woman who as a member of an illegal organization has her memories and personality wiped clean and imprinted with new ones in order to fulfill assignments catering to the wealthy and powerful. It’s great news that the show is finally coming to UK TV and though I could live without the Knight Rider remake I know many men (my hubby for one) are eagerly awaiting its return.
Do you remember the series ‘V’ as in, stood for ‘Visitors’? I do and it used to scare seven colours of you know what out of me but I find it hard to believe that ABC – even though they are one of America’s biggest TV networks – are going to pull off a remake with anything like the credibility and sheer shock value of the original. I just don’t think most remakes ever do work; do you?
However, in case you’ve never seen or heard of ‘V’, the original series centered on some extremely unpleasant aliens – The Visitors – who tried to take over the Earth. It only ran for a year but achieved cult status then and to those of us who are – sadly – old enough to remember it, it still does have cult status! Read more & comment »
Many broadcasters and programme makers are waking up to the fact that a lot of us spend a great deal of time on the internet and use it for entertainment purposes.
They’re also realising that in a hectic world, lots of us prefer to choose when we want to watch something rather than be tied to TV scheduling. There are of course lots of ‘catch up’ facilities on the net for seeing shows you may have missed on TV but the new media wave is programming produced solely for broadcast online.
And another major factor about online programmes is that they are interactive. Viewers can take an active part in the shows, and that’s something that is becoming more and more popular. Read more & comment »
