It’s been revealed that the cast and crew of Coronation Street have been issued with a warning that “gay slurs” and homophobic comments will not be tolerated by the soap’s bosses.
The warning comes after members of staff at ITV complained that “hate-filled” homophobic comments were made on the set of the show.
Bosses apparently sent a memo to everyone involved in the long-running soap which read, “We have just been made aware of ¬several recent instances of homophobic remarks being made on the studio floor.

After all the controversy they caused getting together in the first place, it would seem that the romance between Maria Connor and boyfriend Marcus Dent is due to come crashing to an end in Coronation Street this week.
Fans of the show will know how Maria (Samia Ghadie) and Marcus (Charlie Condou) got together last year, despite the fact that they were both in other relationships, and despite the fact that Marcus was gay!

It’s been reported today that that cast of Coronation Street have been “split by a huge rift” between actors Antony Cotton and Charlie Condou, who of course play the roles of former lovers Sean Tully and Marcus Dent.
The Mirror reports that the actors “only speak to each other when they really have to” after having had a row recently which occurred after animosity between the pair reached a climax.
A show insider said, “It is an open secret that Antony and Charlie do not see eye to eye.
“There is a real divide throughout the cast and crew, with some people Team Condou and a few Team Cotton.

Fans of Corrie will of course know that Maria Connor and Marcus Dent are not only about to realize they’re in love with each other, they’re also going to have a baby together after sharing a night of passion…
So of course, big decisions about their relationship have to be made, and according to Samia Ghadie, who of course plays Maria, part of the reason that her character and lover Marcus (Charlie Condou) decide to go public with their romance is that Marcus’s ex, Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) catches the smitten lovers kissing.
Speaking to Soaplife, Samia began by explaining that having Sean catch Maria and Marcus in a clinch is the last thing the confused lovers need.

Fan of Coronation Street will know how there is a ton of drama lined up for show favourites, Maria Connor and Marcus Dent, but it would seem that it spilled over in to real life when Charlie Condou, who plays Marcus, ended up concussed after being hit by Ryan Thomas, who plays Maria’s boyfriend, Jason Grimshaw.
Fans of the award-winning ITV soap will know that since an unexpected kiss between Maria (Samia Ghadie) and her gay best friend, Marcus after a cancer scare, both have been able to hide their real feelings for each other, despite both of them being in relationships with other people.

Coronation Street’s Anthony Cotton, who plays hot-pot King Sean Tully in the award-winning ITV soap, has defended his character’s suspicions in an upcoming storyline in which he believes that his partner, Marcus Dent (Charlie Condou) is cheating on him.
We were all so happy when Marcus came back to the cobbles of Weatherfield and mended Sean’s broken heart, but it wasn’t long before we noticed the cracks that broke their relationship in the first place coming back to haunt them.

Coronation Street star Antony Cotton – who of course plays gay barman and factory worker Sean Tully – has revealed that he believes the Church of England need to “move with the times” and permit same sex marriages.
The issue of same sex marriages has of course long been a contentious one, with right wing opinion being that it should not be permitted by the Church, while others believe that men and women should be able to marry within their own gender in a church if they wish to make that commitment.
The government is currently looking at proposals to allow same sex marriages, however some members of the clergy argue that permitting gay weddings would “dilute the institute of marriage.”

Corrie gay couple Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) and Marcus Dent’s relationship has had its fair share of problems, and after they’d been dating for year from 2007 to 2008, they split up, but were reunited in April 2011.
Since then, they’ve seemed stronger than ever, with both sharing a close bond over, and with, Sean’s son Dylan, however, according to Charlie Condou who of course plays Marcus, there are troubles ahead for the couple.
While appearing on Lorraine Kelly’s breakfast show, Charlie – who used to share a flat with Take That star Robbie Williams – said of Sean and Marcus, “I think they love each other very much, they really do…

Last night saw the 13th annual British Soap Awards, and all the stars braved the wind and rain to take their seats for the spectacular event, held at the ITV studios in London, where UnrealityTV were on the red carpet to speak to them all before the event started.
The cast of Coronation Street were out in force on the red carpet, hoping to bring home the majority of silverware for a second consecutive year at the prestigious awards ceremony.

Next week, we bid a fond farewell to iconic Corrie barmaid and chef, Betty Williams, who was of course played by the late Betty Driver…
And barman Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) is given the arguably unenviable task of recreating Betty’s famous Hotpot from a hand-written – and formerly top secret – recipe that’s found among her personal effects by her son Gordon (Bill Kenwright).
The plotline for Sean begins when Gordon gives him a letter that his mum wrote to the barman before she died in which she implores him to continue the Hotpot legacy.

As fans of Corrie will know, Antony Cotton has been absent from the screens and his role as Sean Tully since before Christmas.
Initially, Antony took time off from the Street to appear on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here, and since leaving the jungle, he’s been on an extended holiday.
However, he’s due back on the Street soon, and while speaking to the Radio Times about his return – his character has been in London with his son Dylan – Antony revealed that Sean’ in for a shock…
He told the magazine that when Sean returns, Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver) has new lodgers; her sort-of boyfriend Paul (Tony Hirst) and his Alzheimer’s sufferer wife, Lesley (Judy Holt).
As we saw in last night’s episode, in desperation, Paul asked Eileen to look after Lesley while he was at work, but the confused Lesley became aggressive and damaged Eileen’s house.

It’s been reported today that despite having undertaken a stint in the jungle for this year’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! Antony Cotton isn’t quitting Corrie! Phew!
Antony, who of course plays Sean Tully, apparently asked for – and got – a clause written into his latest contract with Corrie that would enable him to take on other projects in addition to his work on the Street.
So he’s now in Australia and getting ready to face his fears in the jungle, which include claustrophobia and a fear of bugs, snakes and anything creepy crawly.
But he has reportedly had hypnotherapy recently to help him overcome his fears, but he reckons actually living with and confronting those things in the jungle will be the ultimate cure… Read more & comment »

‘Coronation Street’ is to have its first gay wedding when Sean Tully ties the knot next spring.
The storyline will see Sean (Antony Cotton) stunned when male midwife Marcus Dent – who walked out on the barman in 2008 because he couldn’t cope with his jealousy – returns to Weatherfield and offers to make the ultimate commitment to him.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: “Bringing back Charlie is seen as a big platform for him and in particular Antony. When Marcus turns up in Weatherfield in the spring he is desperate to rekindle his romance.

It seems that despite rumours to the contrary, Anthony Cotton – who plays Sean Tully in Corrie – is staying with the show.
It had been speculated that Anthony was leaving the show in order to work full time on comedy Benidorm, however, the Daily Mirror reports that Street bosses were “delighted” when he signed a new 12 month contract on Friday.
A show insider told the paper, “Antony was off on Friday and out of the blue everyone was talking about him quitting to joining Benidorm.” Read more & comment »
