The crew members land on a jungle-like planet and fall foul of a mysterious illness – but that is the least of their worries.
Scientists on Earth propose a way to bring the crew home, but the plan carries the risk of potential fatalities aboard the ship. Unconvinced of the scheme’s success, Colonel Young stalls for time to consult his fellow castaways. Sci-fi drama, starring Robert Carlyle, Justin Louis and Lou Diamond Phillips.
Conditions aboard Destiny continue to deteriorate as the ship’s water reserves rapidly dwindle, and Rush announces that the crew will have to find a new supply on the nearest planet – a frozen wasteland with a poisonous atmosphere.
The Destiny continues to drift without power and the crew makes a failed attempt to avoid a collision with a star. Eventually, it is decided to abandon the ship using the one remaining shuttle, hoping one of three nearby planets will support the castaways. However, feelings of relief are soon crushed when Colonel Young announces the vessel will only fit 17 people, meaning a draw must take place to decide who goes – with the exception of himself and Rush, who both opt to remain aboard.
Dr Nicholas Rush has to find out why the Destiny loses all its power reserves apart from life support, while Colonel Young orders the crew to ration their energy consumption.
Building on its promising premiere, Stargate Universe turns up the heat, quite literally, in its latest installment.
The Destiny is breaking at the seams and so is the morale of the ragtag survivors on board. With the air supply dwindling, a team disembarks to a desert-like planet to find a mineral needed to scrub the ship’s air of carbon monoxide. And they only have 12 hours to complete the mission.
