With many a story circulating about series four of Sherlock, despite the fact that series three hasn’t even been completely filmed yet, show runner Steven Moffat has come forward to say that nothing has actually been confirmed.
We reported earlier this year how the shows main star, Benedict Cumberbatch, who plays Sherlock in the hugely popular BBC detective series, had said that both he and co-star Martin freeman, who plays his sidekick John Watson, had both signed up for a fourth series, and were both keen to keep doing the show for as long as it ran.

After we reported earlier this week how Benedict Cumberbatch had stated that he was “in it for the long haul”, his Sherlock co-star, Martin Freeman has said that, he too, is staying loyal to the hit BBC detective series.
Cumberbatch, who along with Freeman has already signed up for a fourth series of the blockbuster show, stated in a recent interview that he would like to grow old with his on-screen eccentrically brilliant alter ego, and that he could see the show, which is a modern day twist on the famous novels by Arthur Conan Doyle, lasting for many years to come.

It’s been revealed today that Sherlock producer Sue Vertue has pleaded with the show’s fans not to leak spoilers about the cult drama’s third series, filming for which has begun in various locations around the UK.
In a message on fan website, Sherlockology, Sue – who’s married to Doctor Who writer Steven Moffat – wrote, “As many of you are aware, we’ll soon be embarking on our first London leg of filming for series 3.
“I’m also aware that there is quite a lot of speculation about where we’re shooting when.
“I can’t stress how much we the Producers and Benedict, Martin and the rest of the cast appreciate your love and dedication to our show – we’ll endeavour to live up to your expectations for Series 3… Read more & comment »

Sherlock co-creator Mark Gatiss – who of course also stars in the show as Sherlock’s brother, Mycroft Holmes – has told the PA that when Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous sleuth turns up alive and well in series three, his evidently not so faithful sidekick Dr Watson will probably utter “a stream of terrible swear words.”
As fans of the BBC drama will know, at the end of series two, Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) fell to what was presumed to be his death, however, Gatiss says that bringing the detective back was what Conan Doyle originally planned for him in his tale entitled The Adventure of the Empty House.
And of Watson’s (Martin Freeman) angry reaction to Sherlock’s survival, Gatiss said, “I always found it a little unlikely Dr Watson’s reaction was to faint – as opposed to possibly a stream of terrible swear words…” Read more & comment »
