As fans of Emmerdale will most likely know, Sian Reese-Williams has announced that she’s leaving the show and her role as Gennie Walker, and of course, it was also announced this week that her co-star Rik Makarem, who plays Gennie’s husband Nikhil, is also leaving.
We’ll have more on that in a moment, but first, during a press day at Emmerdale’s studios in Leeds last week, Sian told us, “I always take my contracts year by year, and I’ve really loved being here…
“But my gut was telling me it was time to move on, and I couldn’t really ignore that.
“For me, this is the perfect time to go to be honest because I’ve done everything that I wanted to do… Read more & comment »

Emmerdale viewers will know that murderer Cameron Murray (Dominic Power) is currently frantic at the prospect that his crimes could be uncovered if the body of one of his victims, Alex Cross, is discovered when work begins on the land where he’s buried…
So naturally, Cameron is in a state of constant panic as he repeatedly tries to get away from the village – and his girlfriend Chas – long enough to dig up the corpse and move it somewhere else.
And his temperament isn’t helped by the fact that Chas’s sister Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams) can smell a rat and is suspicious about Cameron’s recent behaviour. Read more & comment »

Emmerdale viewers will know that Gennie Walker and Nikhil Sharma are set to tie the knot next week, though of course, as we told you this week, and as is the way with soapy weddings, it may not go ahead as planned…

Last night saw the amazing Emmerdale Live hour-long episode, which boasted two wedding, two births and a murder, whilst managing to maintain comedy levels to an all-time high throughout as well.
We all watched with utter amazement at what is already been classed as the best ever live soap episode, beating the likes of its two biggest rivals, Coronation Street and EastEnders who have both attempted similar live broadcasts to mark their own shows anniversaries. According to overnight figures, a peak audience of 9.2m tuned in for the show, the highest-rated episode of the soap to date, with viewing figures reaching their high in the last 15 minutes which saw Carl King (Tom Lister) meet his maker at the hands of Cameron Murray (Dominic Power).

As we predicted a couple of weeks ago, Emmerdale bad lad Carl King did indeed meet a sticky wicket end in tonight’s stunning live episode, and his death was among the final acts in what was a truly outstanding piece of television.
Celebrating forty years of the soap, which began life as Emmerdale Farm, tonight’s hour-long live broadcast promised “all of life” in its two weddings, two births and a death, and my goodness, it delivered, and then some.
Nobody put a foot wrong, and all the main players will surely be needing the services of a carpenter to build them a whole rack of shelves on which to place their awards…
Lucy Pargeter as Chas Dingle was simply breathtakingly good, as was Tom Lister, who of course played Carl. How I hate to be using the past tense for him now! Read more & comment »

Next month is a big one for Emmerdale as it will reach its landmark 40th anniversary, and to celebrate, the show’s bosses have a whole host of shows lined up, including of course the highly anticipated live broadcast.

As fans of Emmerdale will know, Nikhil Sharma is set to become a daddy in October when his girlfriend Gennie Walker gives birth to their baby…
However, there’s a long and somewhat rocky road to go before the happy event, and that journey begins next week when Nikhil proposes to Gennie, only to have the ring thrown back in his face once Gennie realizes he knows she’s pregnant.
It is of course Nikhil’s sister-in-law Charity (Emma Atkins) who spills the baby beans to the clueless factory boss, and he immediately decides there’s only one way forward; propose to Gennie!
And that’s all tickety boo, and she’s delighted to accept his proposal, right up until he lets slip that he knows she’s pregnant. Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams) has of course not yet told him herself as she feared he would be furious and possibly end their relationship.
However, the opposite is the case, and Nikhil – who’s played by Rik Makarem – couldn’t be more delighted, and once he convinces Gennie of that fact, things are again harmonious and the couple will make plans for the wedding and the arrival of little baby Sharma… Read more & comment »

Emmerdale star Rik Makarem has promised that his character Nikhil Sharma and his pregnant girlfriend Gennie Walker will “have a happy ending” to their often turbulent relationship.
As fans of the show will know, Gennie (Sian Reese-Williams) has been putting off telling Nikhil that she’s over four months pregnant because she fears he’ll end their relationship, given he’s previously told her he doesn’t want children.
However, while speaking to Inside Soap, Rik – who’s also starred in BBC’s Torchwood: Children of Earth and ITV period drama Foyle’s War – revealed that far from being upset, Nikhil will be overjoyed at the prospect of being a dad.
In fact, he’s going to be so happy about the news that he’ll ask Gennie to marry him so that they can be a proper family when the little one arrives.
Rik said, “I think there will definitely be a happy ending to this story – but it won’t be an easy road there!” Read more & comment »

Emmerdale star Sian Reese-Williams has revealed to the TV Times that if she were her character Gennie Walker, she would’ve dumped factory boss and anally retentive boyfriend Nikhil Sharma long since!
As fans of the show will know, Gennie has just found out that she’s expecting Nikhil’s baby, but she hasn’t broken the news to him yet, fearing his reaction given that he’s told her previously that he doesn’t want children.
Of the plotline, and of how Gennie copes with Nikhil (Rik Makarem) being so obsessed with tidiness, sport and healthy living – which is almost diametrically opposite to how Gennie lives her life – Sian said, “They have a communication problem and can’t tell each other anything.
“He keeps going on about not wanting kids and it’s putting her off telling him.”
She added, “Do you know, if I were Gennie, I would have dumped him ages ago… Read more & comment »

Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later; that is, Emmerdale’s Chas Dingle and Cameron Murray being caught in a compromising position…
But luckily for them, when their affair is discovered, it’s by Chas’s half-sister Gennie, and not her niece – and Cameron’s girlfriend – Debbie!
But it’s a close call…
The drama of the discovery begins when pregnant Gennie (Sian Reese Williams) walks in on Chas and Cameron sharing a passionate kiss. She is of course both speechless and horrified as the illicit lovers plead with her to keep their affair a secret.
However, it could have been a whole lot worse for the pair, because even as they’re beseeching Gennie to keep mum, Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb) walks in, and of course, can immediately sense that something’s wrong. Read more & comment »

As fans of Emmerdale will probably know, Gennie Walker is about to find out she’s pregnant, but the prospect of the pitter patter of tiny Sharma feet horrifies the poor girl because she knows that her boyfriend Nikhil doesn’t want children.
However, while speaking to Soaplife about the plotline, Sian Reese Williams, who of course plays Gennie, revealed that when her character does finally tell Nikhil (Rik Makarem) that she’s pregnant, we’re to see “some really nice scenes.”
But before Gennie works up the courage to tell Nikhil her news, she works herself up into a high state of anxiety that won’t be doing her or the baby any good!
Sian said, “[Nikhil’s] always going on about how he doesn’t want children.
“I think she’s got a lot of questions that need answering about the relationship – where they’re at and whether there’s any future in it – before she can tell him anything…” Read more & comment »

As fans of Emmerdale will most likely know, Gennie Walker is about to discover she’s pregnant…
And given that she and boyfriend Nikhil Sharma (Rik Makarem) have already talked about having children, and he vehemently told her he doesn’t want any, not unreasonably, Gennie’s nervous about having to break the news to him that he’s going to be a daddy.
However, while speaking to the PA about the pregnancy plotline – which will see Gennie giving birth in October during the show’s anniversary celebrations – Sian revealed that her character is set to be “surprised” at how Nikhil receives the news.
She said, “I think he’s going to surprise her with his reaction to the news.
