The Inbetweeners stars say success is a “double-edged sword”

Simon Bird and Joe Thomas, who of course star in The Inbetweeners, have revealed that the success of the show, and its spin-off movie, is a “double-edged sword” since they now fear anything else they do may not be as successful.

And specifically, Simon and Joe were referring to their new roles in ‘Chickens’, a comedy they co-wrote with Jonny Sweet, the pilot episode of which airs this Friday.

Speaking to What’s On TV, Simon said, “The Inbetweeners has opened a lot of doors for us.

“But at the same time, it is a double-edged sword because [Chickens] is obviously going to be judged in relation to the Inbetweeners – which is unfortunate because we want it to be judged on its own merits.” Read more & comment »

Inbetweeners Simon Bird leads Friday Night Dinners on Channel 4

For the Goodman family, Friday Night Dinner is just like Sunday lunch: just take two days away, add on an extra course and you’ve pretty much got it. This new Channel Four comedy is written and produced by Robert Popper, whose combined credits as a writer/producer/script editor include Look Around You, Peep Show, South Park, The Inbetweeners, Him & Her, The IT Crowd and many more iconic series of recent times. Robert has a mum, a dad and a brother and it would be fair to say that any resemblance between them and the Goodman Family featured in the show is entirely intentional.
