The return of another well loved series was on our screens last night in the form of Spooks, which to be honest, I’ve never been that big a fan of. I can’t seem to get ‘into’ it, but last night’s new series opener did, I must admit, have me on the edge of my seat a few times.
It’s been nearly a year since it was last on our screens so die hard fans will have been wondering all that time what was to become of Harry, played lovingly by Peter Firth. And it was obviously a bit of a downer that the head of MI5 had been bundled into a Russian’s boot…
Leading me to ask, what chance the rest of us if the man largely responsible for our security is so compromised? It’s a sticky wicket… Read more & comment »

Miranda Raison has said that if her character in Spooks is killed off, she would like it to be in the line of fire.
Miranda plays junior case officer Jo Portman on the show and told MSN:
“It’d have to be taking a bullet for Harry [Section D boss, played by Peter Firth], that’d be the ultimate, wouldn’t it?” she said.

BBC Three is to launch a new spin off show from its hit drama, Spooks called Spooks: Code 9.
2013. Thames House is gone and regional MI5 Field Offices have sprung up in its place. Are six young new recruits tough, moral and clever enough to protect Britain’s future…? Filming commenced in Bradford this month on Spooks: Code 9, a new drama for BBC Three from Kudos Film and Television, the producers behind Spooks and Life On Mars.
The year is 2013. London has been evacuated following a nuclear bomb and the country’s power base has shifted north. In the wake of the attack, MI5 must completely restructure and establish field offices across the UK, working to gather intelligence from the very heart of local communities. They need young, new officers on the ground, and fast.
Luckily, Britain’s youth is more than up to the challenge and is fighting back from the attack with a new sense of patriotism, combined with the hedonism that comes from being face to face with their own mortality. It is members of this new generation of patriots who help make up MI5’s new Field Office 19. Read more & comment »
