BAFTAS 2013 full results: Olivia Colman, Sheridan Smith, Steve Coogan, Alan Carr, Made In Chelsea, Game of Thrones win

Olivia Colman was honoured with two awards at this evening’s Arqiva British Academy Television Awards for Supporting Actress for her role as Sue in Accused (Mo’s Story) and for Female Performance in a Comedy Programme for her portrayal as Sally in Twenty Twelve, a programme which also collected an award for Situation Comedy.

Steve Coogan received the award for Male Performance in a Comedy Programme and The Revolution will be Televised won the Comedy Programme category.

Alan Partridge movie to re-introduce show favourites as well as newcomers!

The much-anticipated Alan Partridge movie is reportedly set to feature a selection of old favourites from the iconic TV show as well as introducing a few new characters who have not yet been seen, the Metro newspaper reports.

Alan Gordon Partridge is a fictional radio and television presenter portrayed, and created by English comedian Steve Coogan originally for the BBC Radio 4 programme On The Hour.

Uncle Wormsley’s Christmas with Steve Coogan coming to Sky this Christmas Eve!

Sky Atlantic HD will exclusively show the world television premiere of Uncle Wormsley’s Christmas on Christmas Eve.

Narrated by Steve Coogan, Uncle Wormsley’s Christmas is an animated children’s cautionary tale with a dark heart. Uncle Wormsley is a grey, decaying old man who dedicates his life to the care of his only friend, a monstrous crab called Crabsley who lives in a dungeon under his house. Across town lives Johnnie Goodington, a rich boy who has everything money could buy except one thing – a giant monstrous crab. One Christmas, Johnnie’s father strikes a deal with the mysterious and shadowy Crab Catchers. Johnnie shall have his Giant crab, but dark forces have been unleashed. Who can tell where this will end?

Sky Atlantic to resurrect Alan Partridge!

Steve Coogan is to return to our screens as his alter ego Alan partridge after his production company, Baby Cow, signed a deal with Sky Atlantic!

Previously featured in such shows as Knowing Me Knowing You and The Day Today, Alan Partridge will return for two one-hour special.

Johnny Vegas and Steve Coogan to join Chris O’Dowd in new autobiographical comedy Moone Boy for Sky 1

Sky 1 have announced the a new comedy series, titled Moone Boy, which will be written by Irish comedian Chris O’Dowd.

The show will be adapted from the funny man’s own comedy short for Sky in last December’s Little Crackers series and as well as being written by Chris, the ‘Bridesmaids’ star will also feature in this part autobiographical comedic look at his life growing up in Ireland in 1989. Moone Boy will start production in O’Dowd’s hometown of Boyle, Co Roscommon and Dublin in the New Year and will air on Sky 1 next summer.

Steve Coogan blasts Piers Morgan at press standards inquiry

Comedian Steve Coogan, who is arguably best known for his alter ego Alan Partridge, yesterday blasted former newspaper editor Piers Morgan for how he handled an article written about Coogan.

Speaking at the Leveson Inquiry into press standards yesterday, Coogan referenced a time when Morgan interviewed him for GQ magazine…

Coogan stated that the article “dredged up” stories about his supposed drug use, his alleged liaisons with lapdancers, and it also addressed the claim that Steve had fathered a child with Kurt Cobain’s widow, Courtney Love.

When asked by the Daily Star if Piers had got Steve to open up by being “charming or something else”, Coogan replied, “Something else.”

He went on to say that the interview had been “intrusive” before adding, “It’s Piers Morgan, so it’s what you expect.”

He added, “I certainly wasn’t doing an exposé and spilling my guts. I was talking about things that had already been aired…” Read more & comment »

Steve Coogan to bring back Alan Partridge

Steve Coogan is reportedly considering bringing back his popular character Alan Partridge.

The British comedian – who is best known for playing the politically incorrect media personality is said to be in talks with the BBC about bringing ‘Mid Morning Matters’ back to our screens, which features the character on his North Norfolk Digital radio show, for TV.

A spokesman for the broadcaster told The Guardian newspaper discussions about the re-launch of the project are at a “very early stage”.

Steve Coogan To Star In Sunshine For BBC One

Filming has begun on Sunshine, a three-part BBC comedy drama which will be shown on BBC One in autumn 2008.

Sunshine has been co-written by Craig Cash and Phil Mealey, the team behind the BBC’s hit comedy Early Doors, and co-writers of the BAFTA Award-winning Royle Family – Queen Of Sheba.

Starring Steve Coogan (I’m Alan Partridge, Saxondale), Bernard Hill (Lord Of The Rings) and Lisa Millett (Drop Dead Gorgeous, Blackpool), Sunshine is the bittersweet story of three generations of the Crosby family.

Bing has been fascinated with gambling since he was a child. Bernadette was his childhood sweetheart and, in spite of his addiction, they have become a couple. The family is completed by their young son Joe and Bing’s father George. Read more & comment »
