Fans of The Great British Bake-Off are in for a treat this week as four Sport Relief specials are airing across four consecutive nights. The aim of the show is to increase interest in the charity and try to convince the viewers to bake for Sport Relief. The fact these special episodes feature novice celebrity contestants is an extra incentive to create your own charity bake sale, mainly because your offerings can’t look a lot worse than some of the creations that were offered up in tonight’s opening instalment.

Heading Out tells the story of Sara, a veterinarian who is given an ultimatum by her friends to tell her parents that she is gay.

Fans of Doctor Who may be aware that of late, it’s been rumoured that Great British Bake Off host Sue Perkins has been put forward as a possible candidate to play the next incarnation of the Doctor…
And it’s an issue that seems to have split fans of the long-running sci-fi drama right down the middle, with many fans expressing their delight at the prospect that Sue could the new Doctor, while just as many are horrified at the prospect that Sue, or any woman for that matter, could star as the Time… Lady (I guess).
The Mirror reports that sci-fi website Scifind first put forward the notion that Sue could play the Doctor, and in a tweet to the site’s owners, Sue remarked that she was “beyond flattered” that they’re so keen for her to join the show. Read more & comment »
