But a furious Zainab (Nina Wadia) initially blames Tamwar (Himesh Patel) for the disaster that’s befallen their bank accounts, but rather than tell her the truth, which is of course that Syed caused the whole sorry mess, he keeps quiet and takes his mother’s verbal bashing.
However, when Zainab launches herself at Tamwar, she has to be pulled off the poor lad by AJ (Phaldut Sharma) and Christian (John Partridge) but when Christian goes looking for Syed, intent on making him tell Zainab the truth, he’s shocked to find he’s left!

As fans of EastEnders will know, Meryl Fernandes has left the soap and her role as Afia Masood, which is of course devastating for Afia’s husband Tamwar, who’s still recovering from the physical and psychological trauma of the burns he suffered in the B&B fire last year.
However, Himesh Patel, who has played the role of Tam since 2007 – and has written and episode of, and starred in, online spin-off E20 – has revealed that his character will find comfort in the wake of Afia’s departure in a “bromance” with the lovable Fatboy, who is of course played by the equally lovable Ricky Norwood.
Speaking to Inside Soap about FatTam – well it worked for Cryed – Himesh explained, “I think Tam and Fatboy are set to have a lot more scenes together, which is great.

As fans of EastEnders may know, Meryl Fernandes has now left the show and her role as young bride Afia Masood.
And in this week’s Inside Soap magazine, her co-star and on-screen husband Himesh Patel – who of course plays Tamwar Masood – has revealed that when he and Meryl filmed their last scene together, the tears we’ll see Tamwar shedding are real ones.
First, Himseh explained that Afia’s exit storyline is that she wants to travel the world while she’s young, but Tamwar doesn’t want to go with her.
But when Afia tells him she can’t live in Walford any longer, Tamwar has to say goodbye to his wife.
Himesh said, “We got the scene rescheduled so it was the very last one Meryl and I filmed together.
“We knew it would be emotional, and we wanted to use that. When you see it, those are real tears I’m crying!

Last night saw the 13th annual British Soap Awards, and all the stars braved the wind and rain to take their seats for the spectacular event, held at the ITV studios in London, where UnrealityTV were on the red carpet to speak to them all before the ceremony started.
The EastEnders cast were surprisingly sparse when it came to the red carpet event, especially when compared to the huge Emmerdale crew that showed up en masse, but we managed to catch up with some of the Walford residents to clear up some old rumours and get some new gossip!

In last night’s episode of EastEnders, it was beginning to look alarmingly like the Masood family were going to experience a bit of peace and harmony for a while, and that would never do…
However, it seems we need not fear that the Masoods’ troubles are over – they’re so much more fun when things are going badly wrong – as Himesh Patel, who plays Tamwar, has told the Sun that there’s more turmoil to come.
He said, “There’s so many loose ends to tie up, so we’re still exploring it, but it does move on.”

As fans of EastEnders will know, Zainab Masood deliberately sent evil Yusef Khan into the B&B fire at Christmas, making him believe his daughter Afia was trapped inside…
Yusef – who was played by Ace Bhatti – died in the fire, but in the meantime, also believing Afia (Meryl Fernandes) was trapped, Tamwar Masood went rushing into the flames too, and though he survived, he’s been left with terrible burns to his back.
And in forthcoming episodes, Tamwar’s mum Zainab – who’s played by Nina Wadia – will confess that she lied about Afia being in the B&B, which understandably infuriates Tamwar.
Himesh Patel, who plays Tam, has been telling Digital Spy about how his character copes with hearing his mum’s shock confession.
He said, “The fire was just another one to add to the list of Tamwar’s unfortunate events, really!

Himesh Patel, who of course plays EastEnders character, geeky Tamwar Masood, has been talking to TV Times about his current storylines, and how he landed the role of the studious teen.
As fans will know, poor Tamwar is presently still in hospital, recovering from the terrible burns he suffered after racing into the heart of the B&B fire at Christmas, mistakenly believing his wife Afia (Meryl Fernandes) was trapped inside.
But despite the fact that Tam would have died to save Afia, he can’t forgive her for not telling him the truth about her father, Yusef Khan (Ace Bhatti) who tried to murder Tam’s mum, Zainab (Nina Wadia).
On the subject of how Tam’s coping with the scars left by the burns, Himesh said, “He doesn’t want to show them to anyone and, when we do eventually see them, it won’t be a sight for sore eyes.”
And when asked how Tamwar and Afia’s relationship is affected by the whole tragedy, Himesh said, “Their relationship changes, and he becomes more of the Tamwar that we saw before they married – the one that hardly ever smiles… Read more & comment »
As fans of EastEnders will know, Tamwar Masood cannot forgive his wife Afia for keeping her father Yusef’s secret; namely, that he was the one who started the fire in Pakistan years ago that nearly killed Zainab Masood.
The climax of Yusef’s (Ace Bhatti) story of course came over Christmas when he died in the B&B fire, which he also started deliberately.
Tamwar suffered terrible burns in the fire, but despite the fact that he probably needs Afia’s (Meryl Fernandes) support more than ever right now, he simply cannot forgive her for keeping such a dark secret.
So next week, as Tam – who’s played by Himesh Patel – goes home after having been discharged from hospital, he must come to terms with his injuries and the possible end of his marriage… Read more & comment »
As you’re probably aware, as part of their Christmas storylines, EastEnders bosses have written in a devastating fire at the B&B in which it’s been speculated that Pat Evans (Pam St Clement) and Yusef Khan (Ace Bhatti) may die…
However, today, the Daily Mirror reports that Tamwar Masood (Himesh Patel) is set to be left disfigured after becoming trapped in the Christmas Day fire.
In the aftermath of the inferno, Tamwar is left needing several plastic surgeries on his face, and though his young wife Afia (Meryl Fernandes) promises to stand by him no matter what, his subsequent battle with depression will put their marriage under tremendous strain.
And of course, let’s not forget that Tamwar’s mum, Zainab Masood, was herself nearly killed in a blaze in Pakistan when she was a young woman, so it will all bring back horrible memories for her. It’s always been suspected that Yusef was the one who set that fire…

EastEnders stars Himesh Patel and Meryl Fernandes have revealed that they hope their characters Tamwar and Afia Masood can live happily ever after.
The stars, who made their comments while attending this year’s the Inside Soap Awards to collect the Best Wedding award for Tamwar and Afia’s wedding, added that they hope all the “drama” is now over for the young newlyweds.
