In last night’s trip to Weatherfield, we saw wicked Terry Duckworth – who’s played villainously well by Nigel Pivaro – pretending to his son Tommy that he had nothing to do with Tina McIntyre ending up in a coma…
But of course, he did, as she fell and hit her head during a scuffle with him. And he was just about to do a runner when Tommy turned up, prompting the ever resourceful Terry to immediately switch gears and claim he was looking for Tommy because he’d found Tina (Michelle Keegan) unconscious.
Then as if all that wasn’t evil enough, while Tommy anxiously awaited news on Tina’s condition in hospital, Terry lied that he’d had a text from loan shark Rick Whelan (Greg Wood) saying that Tommy would be “next.”
Terry then talked Tommy into going to “T’rone” (Alan Halsall) to ask for the £9k Terry owes Rick… Read more & comment »
As fans of Corrie will know, Terry Duckworth is dodgier than a dodgem car on dodgy Monday in dodgy town centre…
And in next month’s episodes of Corrie, we’re about to find out that Terry (Nigel Pivaro) hasn’t changed on bit since he left Weatherfield, and will exploit and manipulate anyone and everyone to make a fast buck.
But this time, he’s stooping as low as he can go by first fleecing Tommy (Chris Fountain) of the money that his granddad Geoff left him, and secondly by taking out loans from loan sharks.
And when one of those loan sharks comes looking for his money after Terry misses payments, Tina McIntyre (Michelle Keegan) is horrified to see the debt collector is Rick Neelan (Greg Wood) the thug who hounded her dad Joe (Reece Dinsdale) before he died… Read more & comment »
News from Weatherfield way today includes reports that Corrie stars Samia Ghadie and newly returned cast member Nigel Pivaro have rather different agendas for their future on the show.
Beginning with Samia, who of course plays hairdresser Maria Connor, she told the Manchester Evening News that she’d love to stay on the show for as long as possible.
She said, “It’s simple really, I’ve got a job I love in Coronation Street, an institution, and I’m privileged to be in it.
“Why would I want to do anything else?”
However, she added that she’d like to see Maria having a love interest in the near future, after the doomed relationships she’s had since her hubby Liam Connor (Rob James Collier) was murdered.
She said, “It’s about time she had a bit more romance, she deserves it so don’t give up on her finding true love yet!” Read more & comment »
As fans of Coronation Street will be aware, Nigel Pivaro is back on the cobbles to reprise his role as all round bad lad Terry Duckworth, who is of course Tommy Duckworth’s dad…
Not that Terry has ever been any kind of a dad, having ‘sold’ Tommy to his maternal grandparents when he was just a toddler, breaking the hearts of Terry’s own mum and dad, Vera and Jack Duckworth.
However, as Nigel has been telling Soaplife, true to form, Terry has no interest in Tommy (Chris Fountain) initially, but he soon changes his mind about that when he learns his son inherited money from his grandfather.
When asked if Terry has any regrets about what he did all those years ago when Tommy was just a toddler, Nigel said, “He doesn’t have any regrets about what he did… Read more & comment »
As fans of Corrie will probably know, Nigel Pivaro – who became a full time journalist since his last appearance on the Street in 2008 – is heading back to Weatherfield and his role as Terry Duckworth…
Terry is of course Tommy Duckworth’s dad, and though the show’s writers are keeping his return storyline under wraps, somehow, Tommy (Chris Fountain) ends up with a bloody nose – as in the picture above from the Sun – after a punch in face when Terry turns up out of the blue.
Of Terry’s return to the cobbles, the show’s executive producer, Phil Collinson, said, “I’m very excited to welcome back Terry Duckworth to Coronation Street.
“I grew up watching him duck and dive and break his parents’ hearts…” Read more & comment »
News from Weatherfield today includes former star Helen Flanagan revealing that she won’t ever be tempted to do reality TV, and the Daily Mirror reporting that returning character Terry Duckworth will open a lap dancing club!
Beginning with Helen – who of course played the role of Rosie Webster – she’s been telling Inside Soap about life after Corrie, and the fact that she won’t be appearing on any reality TV shows.
She said, “I couldn’t do a programme where you’re being watched 24/7 like Big Brother or I’m A Celebrity.
“I would like to learn a new skill, so Strictly Come Dancing would be good – but I can’t dance at all, so it’s very unlikely I’d do that… Read more & comment »
It seems to be something of a trend of late, soapy favourites heading back to their old stomping grounds, and today, it’s been revealed that one of Coronation Street’s favourite Rovers is about to Return as Nigel Pivaro is to reprise his role as bad-lad Terry Duckworth.
See what I did there? Rovers – Return? This is why they pay me the big bucks…
Terry is of course the wayward son of Jack and Vera Duckworth, and Tommy Duckworth’s dad. Not that he’s ever been a dad to Out Tommy, and even sold the boy to his in-laws when he was a baby, for which Jack Duckworth (Bill Tarmey) never forgave him…
But his mum Vera (Liz Dawn) just couldn’t resist taking her son back into the fold, no matter how often he cheated, lied and fleeced her for money, bless her.
So now of course, it remains to be seen how Tommy (Chris Fountain) is going to react to his long lost dad turning up in Weatherfield.
A show source said of Terry’s return, “His explosive return will cause shock waves with the residents when his reason for returning is revealed…” Read more & comment »
