The Diary of Anne Frank ~ Recap and review

Last night saw the first part of this new five part adaptation of the famous diaries of Anne Frank, which – apart from the Bible – have become the most read works of non-fiction in history.

The episode began with Anne Frank’s birthday in July 1942. She’d been given a red diary and started to write the entries that would become a frank and telling view of the Nazi occupation of Holland through the eyes of this intelligent and resilient young girl. Read more & comment »

The Diary Of Anne Frank Coming To BBC One

BBC One presents a new adaptation of The Diary Of Anne Frank which will be shown in five episodes on consecutive nights starting on Monday 5th January..

Anne Frank started to write her diary on her 13th birthday in June 1942, just two weeks before she and her family were forced to go into hiding in Nazi occupied Holland.

Written from the cramped conditions of an annexe in her father’s spice warehouse, Anne’s poignant, feisty and often very funny account of her life over a two-year period has become the most widely read piece of non-fiction – apart from the Bible. Read more & comment »
