In that time she has been voted Worlds Sexiest Woman by a lads mag, whilst securing her place in the TV hall of fame for two generations, and gathered more cult followers than you can shake a stick at!

Anybody who’s accustomed to TV murder mystery dramas knows that we never really meet the killer until the last episode. For example, part of the success of the excellent Broadchurch was that everybody could have go at guessing who the killer was. But at the same time, some crime dramas suffer from the fact that the killer’s motivation is never explored in great detail. That’s definitely not the case with The Fall, in which the killer is literally unmasked within the first five minutes of the drama. The rest of the series then looks like it will play out as a cat and mouse drama with a brilliant DCI brought in to review the case of one of the murderer’s previous victims.

Tonight sees the start of a new BBC2 thriller, The Fall, and Unreality TV were lucky enough to catch up with one of its stars, Bronagh Waugh, to find out what we have in store for us!

Best known for playing feisty Cheryl Brady in the hit Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, Bronagh is joined by three former Hollyoaks co-stars Emmett J Scanlan, Gerard McCarthy and Karen Hassan for this new series, in which she plays the wife of Belfast’s first serial killer.

As fans of David Tennant’s ITV drama Broadchurch will know, the series was one of the most gripping and polished dramas to have aired on the channel not only this year, but for some years…

And it’s been reported today that the BBC are keen to cash in on the viewing public’s renewed lust for crime dramas with their own offering entitled The Fall.

Starring former X Files actress Gillian Anderson in the role of Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson, the drama will focus on the hunt for a serial killer when the show begins next month. Read more & comment »

Fans of Hollyoaks will doubtless know that there’s a new series of the show’s spin-off Hollyoaks Later airing in the autumn, and ahead of it, Emmett J Scanlan has revealed that the post-watershed plotlines for Later will be “very ballsy stuff.”

Emmett of course plays the role of not-quite-right-in-the-noggin Brendan Brady, whose malevolent character is set to become even worse when he achieves “a new level of darkness” in the Later episodes.

Speaking to the PA about this year’s run of Later, Emmett said, “It builds very, very nicely throughout all five episodes.

“Come episode four and five it takes the storyline to a new level of darkness and black comedy.

“There’s some very daring stuff, very ballsy stuff that I don’t think has ever been done on Hollyoaks before, so for that reason alone I’m excited as hell…” Read more & comment »

Bronagh Waugh, who plays the role of Cheryl Brady in Hollyoaks, has revealed that she’s “thrilled and honoured” to have landed a role in a new BBC drama thriller entitled, The Fall.

In it, Bronagh will play the role of Sally-Ann Spector, who’s the wife of serial killer Paul Spector, who’ll be played by Jamie Dornan.

Also on the cast list is former X Files star Gillian Anderson, who’ll portray murder investigator, DSI Gibson
