The Daily Mail reports today that Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson will make a cameo appearance in a movie adaptation of classic cop drama The Sweeney.
The film, which stars Ray Winstone and Ben Drew – aka singer Plan B – as Jack Regan and George Carter, is currently being filmed in Kent, and coincidentally, the Top Gear crew, including Jeremy, were in the area yesterday…
So, the film’s director, Nick Love, asked Jeremy if he’d like to shoot a scene for the film, which shows him standing next to a Jaguar XFR in Italian Racing Red. He happily agreed.
And of course, cars feature large in the film, just as in the original series, Fords were the weapon of choice for Regan and Carter, who were played by John Thaw and Dennis Waterman from 1975 to 1978. Read more & comment »

Veteran TV and film actor Ray Winstone has been telling TV Times magazine about some of his forthcoming work projects, and about how he had to cut down on his boozing as he began to feel his age.
Ray, who’s to star in an adaptation of Great Expectations at Christmas, was first asked how he would describe himself.
He replied, “I’m no Brad Pitt or Jude Law in the looks department, but I like to think I represent the normal man in the street.
“There’s nothing wrong with a fantasy figure, of course. It just ain’t ever going to be me.
“I’ll never be mistaken for Hugh Grant. But I am what I am – and I’m very happy being me. I’m a little fat geezer from the East End!”

Singing sensation Plan B has dropped two stone on the advice of his movie co-star, Ray Winstone.
Plan B – whose real name is Ben Drew – is starring in a remake of The Sweeney alongside Ray, who plays Jack Regan in the film.
Drew plays the role of Regan’s sidekick colleague, George Carter.
Speaking to The Sun, Drew said, “Ray came into the studio and we were talking about my character and how someone as young as me has got the part.
“We were saying how I’ve got to be a man in his early thirties, super-smart, excels in exams, brilliant at sports and Ray looked me up and down and goes, ‘Are you sure you’re going to get yourself in good enough shape?’
