‘Fergie’ The Duchess Of York is said to have thrown her hat in the ring for ITV’s This Morning vacancy.
Fern Britton will be leaving the show in July and Fergie is said to have offered her services to ITV bosses in a recent meeting about future projects on the channel.
A channel source told The Sun: “The Duchess came in to see the team and later that evening she called back to ask if she could be kept in mind for Fern’s replacement.
Davina McCall has admitted that she wouldn’t be tempted to replace Fern Britton on This Morning, saying they wouldn’t pay her enough to make it worth it.
Speaking to Heat magazine, the Big Brother presenter said: ‘Would I do it? It’s an enormous commitment and probably not enough money for me to spend that much time away from my kids.’
She cheekily added: ‘Although the opportunity to work with the silver fox that is Pip Schofield is quite tempting.’
Myleene Klass has admitted that she would love to replace Fern Britton on ITV’s This Morning.
It has been claimed that Phillip Schofield belives Klass would be perfect for the job and speaking to the Daily Express, Klass explained: “I’ve heard about my name being in the frame and I’m a fan of Phillip Schofield, which is a bonus. I do the early mornings anyway, so it would fit in perfectly with the diary!”
Phillip Schofield has admitted that he may shed a few tears when Fern Britton leaves This Morning.
When What’s On TV asked Phillip if he would cry on her departure he replied: “Yeah definitely. I mean, it will be a big moment for all of us and you know Fern has been there for ten years now so she’s very much looking forward to a bit of time off, but of course I will miss her.”
Schofield refused to name his favourite in the battle for Fern’s replacement, saying: “It’s too early for that yet.”
Fern Britton has admitted that she has wanted to leave ITV’s This Morning for the last two years.
Ferns announced her decision to leave the show recently and will present her last one on the 17th July.
Fern tells Paul O’Grady tonight: “I feel now as if I have packed up my house and am just waiting for the removal van. I’ve had a fantastic time and it’s a fabulous job, but there comes a moment when it’s time to let someone else have a go.”
The rumour mill is in overdrive this week regarding the future host of ITV’s This Morning. The latest hat to be thrown in the ring is that of Xtra Factor presenter, Holly Willoughby.
It may help that Holly has the backing of current co-host Phillip Schofield, after the pair formed a formidable partnership on ITV evening entertainment show, Dancing On Ice.
Davina McCall is reported to be in the running to present ITV’s ‘This Morning’.
As Big Brother dies a slow death, Davina is keen to move and and maybe a move to daytime TV is just what she needs.
A source said: “Davina has been looking for a new challenge on TV and presenting ‘This Morning’ would fit the bill.
The Mirror has reported that This Morning bosses are planning a huge cull of many of their big named experts and presenters.
Stars under threat include agony aunt Denise Robertson, celebrity interviewer Alison Hammond, soap enthusiast Paul Ross, chef Phil Vickey and Dr Chris Steele.
A show insider is quoted as saying: “There is a huge family of regular experts on the show and this will be a tough process for them. Some may leave while others might find they have to take pay cuts or are used less.
They added: “No-one is safe at the moment.”
Christine Bleakley has turned down the chance to present ITV entertainment show This Morning.
Bleakley was in talks to take over the role from Fern Britton but has decided to stay on BBC’s The One Show with Adrian Chiles.
Christine told The Daily Mail newspaper: “I am more than happy at ‘The One Show’. Doing ‘This Morning’ would mean getting up very early. I am definitely a night owl. It is a nice thing to be asked but I am very happy where I am for time being.”
Happy because she and Adrian are secretly dating perhaps? I’ll let you make up your own mind on that one….

Fern Britton has added more fuel to the rumours that she there is a rift developing between her and Phillip Schofield, by quitting the ITV Soap Awards.
Fern announced her decision to quit ITV’s This Morning this week and immediately people began speculating that Fern was leaving due to jealousy over Phillips TV success and huge wages. She has denied the rumours but has now announced that she won’t be presenting the Soap Awards with Schofield either.
We earlier revealed that Fern Britton has quit This Morning but rumours have now emerged that she made that decision based on some awkwardness around Phillip Schofield.
Fern has presented This Morning for ten years, Phillip for seven. The two have helped the show grow from strength to strength, however outside the première daytime TV show Phillip’s career has grown massively whilst Fern’s seems to have slightly stagnated.
A source told Heat:
“I know it has been a big source of irritation to her that Phil has become the big prime time star and she hasn’t, and he is on a lot more money than her”
After 10 years of fronting the show, Fern Britton has quit This Morning!
Britton will present the current series up until its end this July and then leave to spend more time with her family and pursue other projects.
She thanked her This Morning viewers for their “kindness and loyalty” over the years.
Britton said: “After 10 years with This Morning, I have decided to leave the show at the end of the current series. I will present my last show on 17 July, my birthday, which seems somehow appropriate.
Phillip Schofield has warned his fans not to expect him to be bright eyed and bushy tailed whilst presenting This Morning today.
Phil also presents ITV’s Dancing On Ice which wrapped last night after former X Factor singer Ray Quinn scooped the title. The show was followed by a cats and crew party and Schofield tweeted:
“There’s a bit of a do afterwards which I’ll go to, may be a bit bleary for This Morning.”
I suppose we’re just lucky that we can’t smell his breath! Poor old Fern.
This Morning presenter Fern Britton moved from the world of light entertainment to BBC’s Question Time this week and gave her views on the current financial crisis.
Fern appeared with Conservative shadow business secretary Ken Clarke and Liberal Democrat Treasury spokesman Vince Cable and when asked about the current banking crisis she replied:
She said: “It seems to the majority of people, that we who have families and mortgages and all of those things, we knew that spending was too much.
